Top dawgs ego has hurt them a bit for sure. Dude could've capitalized on the hype early on a lot better. At the same time TDE isnt a major label so to expect some huge shyt isnt realistic either. Kendrick and Q naturally gets the push since they're with interscope.

They're stuck on trying to be some hippie art house...

The only artist with star potential is kendrick. As long as the other artists have positive cash flow I don't see the issue. The fact that we heard of all these artists despite limited promotion is a good sign because they probably eating

First and foremost, he doesn't want to be bigger than his artists. He isn't putting himself out there, demanding executive producer on records he isn't working on, or anything like that. Just because hes black, wears red from time to time, and is from LA doesn't make him trying to be Suge Knight.

Second and this is the most important for the thread starter and the idiots co signing him.....HE DOESN"T FULLY CONTROL THE LABEL! They are under the Interscope umbrella and have been since right after Section 80 came out. That means while he does run the sub, he still answers to Interscope. He does not get to fully release albums anytime he wants. He is still beholden to Interscope upper management (which Jimmy Iovine is not anymore, he left for Apple)

For everyone talking about TDE and Kendrick, he is the biggest Hip Hop artist on Interscope and they do not let TDE call the shots nor does TDE spend money on Kendrick directly, Interscope does. Which shows just how little a lot of you actually know.

1. To think Top doesn't have any say so is ridiculius.
2. Your forgetting the entire premise of Internet forums. I thought it was for discussion to inform, give, opinion, and gain insight.
3. You must be an employee at TDE who ride for his label. You must Jay Rock? You happy you might be releasing something this year? Or are you Isaiah whose happy Top held your hand to get you off those xans and helped you through your 10 step program?

But yea thanks for the insight. Interscope distributes for TDE. Which explains a lot for Kendrick and Q but the only thing Interscope deals with is making sure the other artists music is in stores and Spotify.

Its easy to place full blame on the imprints I.e (cash money...good music...grand hustle) while ignoring the PARENT LABELS... (sony..universal..warner)

Because the parent labels are superlarge conglomerates that sit up far away from the "streets" in thier cozy high rise office buildings....like "hidden masters" while guys like TOP DAWG and BIRDMAN become the buffers for the attacks.

Guys like Lucian Grainge and the brass at INTERSCOPE aint on twitter or at the clubs so they get shielded from press damage
