You're looking at thosr job numbers and layoff announcements wrong. There is far more context than can be provided in a tweet.

M$ has added almost 100k jobs since 2018, around 65k since 2020. Even if they got rid of half (they haven't) still an overall increase of around 50k jobs.

The gaming division acquired Activision/King, there are always reductions following an acquisition. They also discontinued equity compensation at Activision, and so on.

Tweets are doom and gloom bullshyt meant to scare the losers. It’s like when people told you not to get a degree, or not to go into this field or that. Long game.

Correct. What matters is learning advanced math, building and engineering systems, and getting the research work in.

No shortcuts.
If someone is going to learn all that advanced math they might as well go to school and get a credential for it. Imagine doing all that work to learn PDE’s and not having a credential to show for it besides “trust me bro”.

Could save the trouble by having that one line on a resume saying “B.S/M.S <STEM major>”.

As the other tweet states they are not replacing these jobs with "AI" they are just ramping up for more h1b workers. AI can't even do basic help desk functions outside of password resets :bryan:
All it is. Can't bootstrap your way out of folks working for 1/3 or less of the average American tech worker wage.

:blessed: After 7 months of Trying, 2 interviews, 1 job offer :blessed: I am going to be making around the same I make now but way more with bonus. Even their job offer emphasizes personal time :mjcry: . I can finally enjoy my weekend again, no more hotel sleeping. I am going to sign it tonight and give my two weeks notice!

I don't even need to take time off because just working 40 hours a week now will feel like a damn vacation.

I'm seeing way more H-1Bs being hired at my company since the Biden Administration updated all those rules last year.

I threw in the tech towel. Moving into healthcare

Industries in general gonna be upside down. The customers of Big tech are running to big tech foe solutions on how to do the inevitable.

Main thing i can say is use the run way you have to get out of debt and just take life as it is lol

The thing with tech for many is it put us in golden handcuffs, where we lived a certain way and become beholden to it where it becomes hard to do anything else but now when there is no where to go thats where the dread comes in.

Depending on where someine is in life pivots are easier said than done.

I already anticipate a pay cut as im just gonna focus on outside of major tech since im already stampped and hopefully it gives an edge, just annoyed the remote field is in shambles but beggers cant be choosers. If i can find something flexible hybrid i wont complain. Taking vacation and will get to the grind when i return
