The offer I accepted is not one of the big 3s. The accepted role would allow me to manage multi-brands. One of the things that stood out in the final interview was the lady was telling me that she wishes the role paid more, admitting it was a little less than market rate and that she hopes they improve that. I appreciated the transparency there. She also held me over the interview time to ask me who I was as a person and was emphasizing that they don't want people whose whole identity is their work and she was pushing family values and all that. That was a pretty refreshing green flag for me despite the slightly under market payrate.

The other offer I have pending (fingers crossed) is a notable agency that's been around since 1973 that was just acquired by Publicis though so that one I could end up working for a big 3 company. During the interviews one of the guys was talking about it and he seemed kind of bummed about it and said the culture changed when they got acquired and that they are steering people away from remote work and want more in office. But the role I applied for is remote but may be more hybrid come April with it being located in Florida. I think this role would be interesting because it is focused on one brand (Tyson) and I've never had the experience of working with one single brand before. I think earning potential could be higher here but I'm a bit wary of them being acquired by Publicis and how that seems to be coming off in terms of employee morale and strict requirements. But it could be more structured and be a great place to develop as well
I would say that being at a bigger agency does provide way more opportunities because you can jump to another agency or brand and get to know way more people. Publicis has been on a complete tear recently with winning a ton of clients so it’s a great place to be now. Relationships matter a lot at the agency. Negative on working on 1 brand is that if the brand goes away then your job is at risk and also it could be a shytty brand or client but that’s every job.

How did they listen in? We’re you using a company cell phone or company landline :sadcam:
Google meet. I checked to see if the call was recorded and it wasn't but they have like keystroke tracking software or something. The whole situation was dumb because I met with my supervisor the week before and walked her thru the process always with the intention of implementing it for the company being transparent about it. They were acting like I was on some Edward Snowden shyt.

Plus a lot of what I pieced together for the process was publicly available resources related to entirely different platforms than my company's.

I think they were just trying to get rid of me and looking for any way to justify it. At that point I didn't want to work there anyways. Was already looking for a new job.

I was laid off by Microsoft and can't find a job. I'm weeks away from giving up my apartment and moving across the country to live with family.

When I was laid off, I was on medical leave for a personal health issue and had been planning to return to work in the coming days. I collected my last paycheck in mid-July and then received some severance pay, but I started applying for jobs almost immediately. My mindset was "I can cry while I apply."

I decided to share that I'd been laid off on LinkedIn, and the post received over 115,000 impressions. I began receiving messages from recruiters about opportunities, and I've landed interviews at companies that include Disney and Nintendo.

But it's now been five months since my layoff, and I'm still looking for a job. I've been drawing on my savings to pay the bills and renting my one-bedroom apartment on a month-to-month lease for about $2,700 — all while crossing my fingers that I land a role soon.

My lease ends the week of October 20, and if I don't have a job offer by then, I'm planning to move across the country to Florida to live with my family and save money until I find a job. Rent is expensive, but rent without income coming in is doubly expensive.

Got terminated on 9/15.

I work in adtech. Was working for a DSP since 2023. Started in sales and then got into an Enablement & Partnerships role. Found a niche running retail media campaigns and quickly made a name for myself as the subject matter in-house. I carved out a revenue stream that wasn't being taken advantage of but was the fastest growing sector at our company. The CEO was funneling the best retail opportunities to me and regularly praising me in monthly stand-up meetings.

This was the first time I have been able to really pave my own lane at a company and I got really good at it. It had never been done before at the job so I created my own processes around it to make it scalable. At one point I was getting bonuses and commissions for hitting certain targets and creating internal and external processes.

Out of nowhere, the CEO of our company caught legal charges and ended up stepping down (there went one of my biggest advocates). Senior employees were leaving or getting terminated in droves, making me one of the more tenured employees. Things were looking up a little but ground was feeling shaky. New leadership rolled in who were fresh and had to learn the company from the ground floor which felt sloppy.

Around July I got pulled into a random meeting from a leadership new hire who told me that she would be altering my role (without my consent) and that effective the 2nd half of the year they would be taking away my bonuses and commissions. Naturally, I got annoyed and tried to stay quiet and keep shyt moving but I let them know that I thought that was a weird way to reward the work I'd been putting in. This new leader was basically coming in and asking me about my process and asking me to meet with her and put the process into her own spreadsheet. This pissed me off because it felt like they were just using me to understand my process and pass it off as their own. Not only that but I was managing the workload effectively. When the new leadership came in they tried to take my process and outsource it to a managed services team in India which slowed shyt down so much and pretty much ruined the whole flow. All of a sudden, media plans that I was strategizing with clients and running without needing to go through all this red tape now required approval from people who didn't even understand how to do this at the level I do.

I got a little possessive over my process and made the mistake of calling it my "proprietary" work. They used that as grounds to terminate me after spying on me by listening in on a call I was having with my coworker.

In the middle of a divorce too. So I was navigating unemployment, divorce, the healthcare open marketplace, and single parenting at this point. Was planning on using the 401k accrued at my latest job to keep me afloat through all this mess until I landed my next gig.

I was already looking for a job prior to getting canned and did 5 interviews at a company that would have been perfect to continue doing what I was doing there somewhere else. After the 5th interview they told me that their whole team thought I was a really strong candidate but "based on their conversations with me, it seemed like had higher aspirations and was seeking a higher role". I was like :dahell: I saw a job description, thought it was a great fit, and you tell me that I didn't get it because you're basically saying I'm overqualified and passing it off like I was saying that in the interviews??

Long story short, I was able to secure a job offer last Thursday for a client of my previous company doing the same thing I'm doing, but on the agency side instead of the tech side making $12,000 more. I also am in the final round with another agency that is also a great looking opportunity. I told them I got this offer and asked when I should hear the final verdict. They are saying end of this week. But the job I accepted wants me to start on the 20th next week. If the offer is good enough I may reneg on the offer I accepted but I also am just grateful to be employed and don't want to mess up this opportunity.

This shyt feels like failing up sometimes it's crazy. Hoping I'm able to make a big impact in this new role and glad to be employed again before insurance premiums go sky high in November.

Thankful to have found a new job so quickly in this job market. Now I don't have to burn that 401k money and can roll it over into my other IRAs.

Also, finally having a solid resume with solid experience and a pretty defined idea of a career path has helped with landing interviews easily. Once I get into an interview, it seems that people are consistently impressed and move me onto future rounds pretty reliably (thank god).

Edit: :ohhh: just realized I'm now finally at long last a 6 figure coli breh. :blessed:!!!
Been stacking them certs too which has helped tremendously.
Just received a 2nd offer from a much bigger agency :lupe: may rescind the offer I accepted for this one. Great problem to have!

Yeahhhh but you better make sure that 2nd company not on BS and don’t burn yourself in this disgusting ass market.
I ended up declining the new offer at the bigger agency and keeping my accepted offer. Between my last conversation with them and this offer conversation, the account they told me I would be working on changed (would have still been a huge account) and they told me that I would be expected to go in office to Chicago once a week (in the prior conversation they told me there was an office in Miami I could go into which would have been more feasible).

Thanks for the cautionary advice here. In-office mandates are so dumb in 2025 but these companies are obsessed with losing great talent to this
