Damn that sucks. Know she was shaking and filled with anxiety when getting that email :mjcry::francis:

I’ve yet to get fired/laid off but always keep something on backup and contacts I can call just in case. These places don’t give a damn and will drop you like nothing. Don’t care about your bills, how you’ll eat, a roof over your head or your kids:demonic:
Onsite Networking engineer the only safe tech space right now

Her bigger problem is a mortgage payment approaching 3K. And she already scheduled a trip to New Zealand before getting laid off

Whatever severance package she gets probably wouldn't last long with her spending habits. I wouldn't be planning an overseas trip in this poor economy. And I probably make way more than she does.
I've been in a similar situation however one pro/con for me was stacking the $ when working but not increasing my living expenses. Sure I have a few new subscriptions and boughts some new video/audio equipment but I didn't run out and buy any major expenses because of this reason.

My goal is to keep working start up jobs and contract work getting laid off after a year or two until one of my other hustles can bring in a substantial amount of money. But I feel like IT went from a career to a hustle.

Equipment still needs to be configured, deployed, and troubleshot, no matter how much AI advances

Learn to fix computers and peripherals, especially networking equipment.

If you are able to get some experience and certs, you don't need a college degree to make decent money. Especially if you're Cisco certified.

1. I'm not sure why people are so open about their lives in this fashion. If I get laid off you'll never see a video of me online confessing to it

2. Companies are cutting back on remote roles, true. But there's still space in the market for them. You just have to realize things are competitive. Everyone's gunning for them nowadays. So upskill always.

3. You can't stay still in tech. Always gotta be upskilling. You never know when your number will be called. Have your emergency funds, have a 6 month plan to secure a new gig.

People grieve in different ways but most of the time they make money off content like this. I lost my job youtube is a lucrative market.

No, I mean fashioning yourself as a content creator “Dear Diary” style when you’re just literally working and living, esp if it’s not interesting or lucrative (serious money) content.

It’s not a good look if you actually take your career seriously- and she’s sharing that she doesn’t really like her job/company…this stuff is easily traceable and not sure why a company would want to invest in an employee more concerned about doing their own thing pretty publicly than their job.

And I’m an oversharer/blabber but I can’t imagine crafting an legit internet presence over it. Meh

Why would companies trust nap types in Mumbai to protect their network lol
If a company gets breached they pay a small fine compared to earnings. Most of which is covered by cyber insurance.

A VP told me the cybersecurity people over in India, Poland, Romania etc are just a place holder. Until they can get AI to do the work instead. And then layoff everyone in a cost center like cybersecurity.

She kinda cute too :mjcry: Defibitely wouldn't have put the convo online tho
She should be outside dealing with the real world working 5 days a week in office so she could find a husband. I use to run into a lot women on my commute to work now the game is being pushed online. These ladies turning into femcels cause they never outside working remotely.

I'll put it this way. I joined a start up 5 mos ago (the earliest folks started 10 mos ago, and we still presalary, the investor phase is here and im cautiously optimistic. This administration can snap their fingers and everything can go to shyt.

I accepted it before there was any indication that I would lose my STABLE position a month and a half after. IF, and I mean IF, it goes belly up, I am ALL THE WAY on my ass.

The market is as bone dry as I ever seen it. 2023 was way worse than 2022, 2024 FAAAAAR worse than 2023, and 2025 for now is looking WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worse than even that.
