so your argument is "Phonte says so, so it must be true".

I hope as a adult male you dont live your life that way.

What youre really trying to say is Babyface has more commercial appeal (white people like him)...so he aint black enough for you.

fukk out of here w/ that bullshyt thinking.

If youre old enough to remember the 80s and 90s then youre old enough to know black folks fuked w/ Face.

Cats will talk about "jams" and then bring up one of MJs most generic songs (Remember the Times) to give Teddy Riley a point.

nikka got his ass tore up and decided to add some more to his post:lolbron:

First of all the first sign of defeat is to add on to a post

2nd sign is to go the Negro route and put word's in a brotha mouth

3rd sign is using the old weak Negro point "He Must Not Be Black Enough"

You is a fukk boy and weak ass nikka for putting words in my mouth. I never once said Babyface is not black enough and I can give a fukk if more white people like him

And I never said Black Folks don't fukk with his music. You see fukk Boy your bytchassness have you jump into shyt you know nothing about because if you would of read this thread I posted plenty of instance in this thread and Kells thread on how and what black demographics fukk with Face and I'm 43 broke down what songs my generation from the mid to late 80' s through the 90's Listened to by Face that he wrote for others or himself

Man get your bytch ass out of here and you hoe foreal trying to use he ain't black enough card on me.

All these twitter opinions are hiphop leaning; it makes sense they would dig teddy more....he has a hiphop foundation even to his R&B stuff. If you ask the R&B heads who were around before NEW Jack Swing, they'll all take Babyface over Riley.

So you basically saying asking those who are in the 60's will take Babyface over Teddy

Because men and women in their mid to early 50's are the hip hop generation also and that's who are tuning in those who are from the age 40-55 who was in high school or early 20's when Babyface and Riley was doing their thang the Class of 1980-1995

good point i think teddy had the jams and babyface had the hits like Phonte was saying and teddy wall to climb was much harder given that hip hop wasnt respected back then so every inch producers and rappers had to crawl and fight their way. it is documented don cornelius didnt even like rap. thankfully he still had them performed in his show. Teddy hip hop based and R&B dance fusion work is groundbreaking . Also Babyface was polished classy in his apporach and both are needed .
like i said before, although Babyface did some songs with Jayz, it wasnt Babyface strength in the hip hop mix with R&B space..
babyface deserve his roses and all the riches that came to him and its messed up teddy early on supposedly got jerked in the music game or whatever but he not financially where he should be on that level .i'm sure he is doing fine and still getting checks and he does do shows so go him folks .
We need both Babyface and Teddy in our lives. I personally cant see how one can disown one over the other. one can pick a favorite style wise but to hate on one over the other that's insane
:ohhh:

Yeah I said it, be a Man and mention names

And it's funny you posted Whispers Rock Steady when I already highlighted this jawn once as one of his Jams

And the funniest shyt in this thread you and 2 other people posted this as his Jam after all that sappy ballad shyt don't fly as a jam

Once again proving my point that when it comes to Jams the whispers rock steady is what they only think of as a jam for Babyface

Basically proving my point, you making this to easy
According to you, a jam gets all ages moving, yet Can We Talk and Cant Stop don’t do that :dahell:

None of this is objective...so it’s dumb to take phonte’s outta thin air definition as gospel and then also put your own definition on it

I hope “we’re taking the quality up” doesn’t mean too many people are getting involved and will gentrify the shyt out of this :mjlol:it’s something very organic and fun right now than can instantly nosedive if you try to change anything other than IG timing out after an hour.
Exactly what I was thinking. I’m like fam the shyt is IG Live streamed what the fukk extra quality are u trying to get? The shyt TPain and Lil Jon did was fukking perfect. Even had Netflix watching THEM.

the old articles from the 90s covered the generation gap/divide from mid to late 80s to 90s R&B

baby face still represented the old "grown and sexy" style

teddy represented the origins of modern "hiphop soul"

Why are people misconstruing Phonte's statement to mean that Teddy had jams and Babyface only had hits. He never mentioned names. When ya'll do this, it is more an indictment on you for turning it into that because for one, it shows ignorance to the catalog of both parties. More importantly, it shows an ignorance to Black music as a whole. Ballads are just as much a spiritual experience and could be considered a jam. These are songs that many of us slow dances to at prom and might've created children to, but these songs are being dismissed because they aren't uptempo.

I just posted some, to which people agree. You seem to have your mind made up that they’re not so I’m not going back and forth with you.

I’ll end this post here

Exactly. Both these nikkas got both and if nikkas saying anything different they are doing a great disservice to their discography

Had no idea Teddy started out as rap producer doing KOOL Moe Dee "go see the doctor" and the hit song, "The Show" by Dougie Fresh and Slick Rick. Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh still eat of that song when performing that mid 80'd hit song
