Question. Ya'll ever order directly through the manufacturer? Quick story.. (might be kinda long)

I just talked to somebody at PGA Superstore here in Orlando. Told them that I was interested in the Mizuno JPX 919 Forged set that they had on sale. It was a 4-PW set for $999. (Comes out to $125 per club) I was gonna shave off the 4 and 5 iron, since I'll be using a hybrid. To be honest, dude didn't even sound like he wanted to help. Either way, he told me that they couldn't break up the set since Mizuno no longer makes the clubs. I was like :wtf: He told me to just wait 2 weeks when the 921's come out. Now, I'm cool with that since they're sexy as hell, and Mizuno's are just... butter. Now the price for the 921's are $1400 (or $175 per club) So a 6-GW set would run me $1050 before taxes. shyts gettin pricey, but I wouldn't have to worry about clubs for at least 6-8 years. Here's my question..

I'm 6'6 right? I'm gonna need the clubs extended and the loft/lie adjusted. Also, I'm gonna need midsized grips on them too. I've ordered three sets of clubs in my life, and all three times I got them standard. Then pay to get fitted and have the L/L/L adjusted and extended. If I order through a place like PGA Superstore, or Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith.. and they put in the order through Mizuno on their own, how does it work? Basically, do i get the grips, and the L/L/L's to my specs included in the purchase price? (Since they'd be building the clubs for me from jump?)

I'm just tryna budget correctly. I got no problem droppin the coin, but the set isn't the only thing I'm gonna need. I need a new hybrid, a new 60 degree wedge, a new putter (found one that i fell in love with), and a new golf bag. I cant rock Mizuno clubs with my Cobra bag :scust:.

shyt, I might need a new driver too. I'm still rockin the Taylormade R1 :francis:

Ya'll got some advice? :patrice:
If you go to a fitter, usually the clubs are bought from the manufacturer and then built to your specs. I'm not sure, it might be good to just call someplace like PGATSS and ask them.

Crazy how I have missed this thread.
I played fairly often with people in my company right after college. Got into as a means to stay competitive in something athletically cerebral post college. I was a collegiate athlete (football and track & field) and loved to compete and needed something to fill athlete void. Played a lot with my boss and other upper management folks. They liked having me around since I averaged 350y off the tee(when i avoided a slice) and it amazed them. Other than putting my game was shyt. Was a +18 handicap when I stopped playing in 2011. My boys would play randomly but struggled to break 105 on easy courses so I was never in fear of losing to them.

Fast forward to now. I have a few friends that are taking lessens and coming for my throphies. I upgraded my set but after 2 9's I think I might switch my Irons and Driver again. Felt good to play again but my 2nd round of 9 was in 105 degree heat smh. This time around Im not going for huge hits...im going to play smarter and more calculated. I plan on at least 2 practice sessions at one of the many driving ranges around me per week and at minimum a 9 hole per week. The big thing for me is getting my body back into conditioning. I got flabby over the past 10 years. Only carrying my driver 270 right now but should gain 30+ yards after a few weeks of training.
