Playoffs are here!!!!!

Here is the format to the playoffs:
FEDEXCUP PLAYOFFS
At the conclusion of the season, the top 125 players in the FedExCup standings will be eligible to play in the FedExCup Playoffs, a series of three events over the month of August (from 2007 to 2018, the FedExCup Playoffs included four events). Points earned during the PGA TOUR Regular Season carry over to the Playoffs.

Players will compete in the FedExCup Playoffs for their share of the $60 million total in bonus money, with the FedExCup champion taking home $15 million

The FedExCup Playoffs events feature a progressive cut, with fields of 125 for THE NORTHERN TRUST (TPC Boston, Norton, Massachusetts), 70 for the BMW Championship (Olympia Fields Country Club, Olympia Fields, Illinois) and 30 for the TOUR Championship (East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia), where the FedExCup Champion will be determined. In the event an eligible player is unable or chooses not to play, the field will be shortened and no alternates will be added. Points from the missing positions will not be awarded.

THE NORTHERN TRUST will cut the field to low 65 and ties after 36 holes, while the BMW Championship and TOUR Championship are no-cut events.

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the first two Playoffs events award 1,500 points to the winner (triple points of Regular Season events), while the Playoffs Finale, the TOUR Championship, features a strokes-based system (FedExCup Starting Strokes) instituted for the first time in 2019. The player with the lowest total score will win the FedExCup and be credited with an official victory in the TOUR Championship competition.

The FedExCup points leader after the first two Playoffs events will begin the TOUR Championship at 10-under par. The No. 2 player will start at 8 under. The No. 3 player starts at 7 under; the No. 4 player starts at 6 under; the No. 5 player starts at 5 under. Players 6-10 start at 4 under; players 11-15 start at 3 under; players 16-20 start at 2 under; players 21-25 start at 1 under; and players 26-30 start at even par.

At the TOUR Championship, the player with the lowest aggregate score over 72 holes when combined with his FedExCup Starting Strokes will win the TOUR Championship and also be crowned FedExCup champion. The TOUR Championship win will be considered an official victory and the FedExCup champion will also earn a bonus of $15 million and a five-year PGA TOUR exemption.

What kind of 3 wood do y’all play? I haven’t carried one in a minute but I have an open slot in my bag now and am thinking of filling it with a 3w.

Or if y’all have a better suggestion for a different club to fill out my bag other than a 3w? Right now I have a driver, hybrid (19 degree), 4-PW, 50, 54, 58, putter.

Taylor Made r5 3-wood :flabbynsick: it has a new grip so it feels great but i rarely use it. Never really in the 240-260 yard range.

Just our of curiosity, why so many wedges?

How do you hit your 4, 5 and 6 iron?
What loft is your driver?

I played the R5 driver until I finally upgraded in 2017 :banderas:

I use my 54 for everything inside 105, so that club is my baby lol. 50 I only use on full shots from 115-125. The reason I got was to fill In the gap from my PW to my 54. 58 I got last year and really never hit it just because I’m too comfortable with my 54.

I hit them all well. 6 is about 185-198, 5 is 200-210, 4 I rarely give it a full on swing, but I can hit it up to 220 if it’s flush. Driver is 9.5.

Edit: 4 is probably low 220s but like I said I never really give it a full swing.

Question. Ya'll ever order directly through the manufacturer? Quick story.. (might be kinda long)

I just talked to somebody at PGA Superstore here in Orlando. Told them that I was interested in the Mizuno JPX 919 Forged set that they had on sale. It was a 4-PW set for $999. (Comes out to $125 per club) I was gonna shave off the 4 and 5 iron, since I'll be using a hybrid. To be honest, dude didn't even sound like he wanted to help. Either way, he told me that they couldn't break up the set since Mizuno no longer makes the clubs. I was like :wtf: He told me to just wait 2 weeks when the 921's come out. Now, I'm cool with that since they're sexy as hell, and Mizuno's are just... butter. Now the price for the 921's are $1400 (or $175 per club) So a 6-GW set would run me $1050 before taxes. shyts gettin pricey, but I wouldn't have to worry about clubs for at least 6-8 years. Here's my question..

I'm 6'6 right? I'm gonna need the clubs extended and the loft/lie adjusted. Also, I'm gonna need midsized grips on them too. I've ordered three sets of clubs in my life, and all three times I got them standard. Then pay to get fitted and have the L/L/L adjusted and extended. If I order through a place like PGA Superstore, or Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith.. and they put in the order through Mizuno on their own, how does it work? Basically, do i get the grips, and the L/L/L's to my specs included in the purchase price? (Since they'd be building the clubs for me from jump?)

I'm just tryna budget correctly. I got no problem droppin the coin, but the set isn't the only thing I'm gonna need. I need a new hybrid, a new 60 degree wedge, a new putter (found one that i fell in love with), and a new golf bag. I cant rock Mizuno clubs with my Cobra bag :scust:.

shyt, I might need a new driver too. I'm still rockin the Taylormade R1 :francis:

Ya'll got some advice? :patrice:

Honestly never ordered directly through manufacturer. I would assume you could send them specs. since you already have a set that fits you and they would include all of that in the price. I just went to the Mizuno site and it looks like they're still selling clubs. They even have a swing DNA analyzer to customize your specs.

And are you not getting a 4, 5 iron? What are you using from 205-240 yards, your hybrid?

Unless your swing speed is :flabbynsick: I wouldn’t recommend getting a 4 and 5 hybrid. Stick with the irons. You lose a lottttt of workability by getting the hybrid version of them.

I never have, but I plan on doing just that this fall/winter. I'm going to upgrade my 20+ year old Hogan Apex Plus irons to a combo set of their newest irons. Since they're direct to consumer now, that's my only option. I can make fitting adjustments when I order though, so I'll be getting an "iron fitting" from a local shop here for $75 before I order. Just to figure out if I need any lie adjustment and nail down my shaft options.
