The rant about queens nearly ruins "Mural" for me. "Prisoners" Pt 2 is an excellent record, but it's bound to Pt 1, which I don't care for at all. This is one of the first albums I've heard where I thought the rapper would benefit from an editor. Not an executive producer, but someone to actually edit the pages in Lupe's rhyme book. Almost every track has a bunch of good ideas and a bunch of bad ideas working in concert. It's fascinating to hear, but rarely enjoyable.

This is an interesting point, he touched on some really good shyt in short bursts, if he had edited it into something more concise it could have been really dope work. But it's far too many ups and downs to me, even with a verse, I'll be interested briefly but then he will say something corny or ineffective to throw me off, I never felt I could enjoy it totally and fully, I wanted to as well but just couldn't. I checked it out hoping I could hear some gems, cause I know he is capable of them. But it was far too inconsistent to capture me. If he had kept the best bits and elaborated on them and also made the concepts and lyrics more focussed and potent it would be vastly better.

Edit: The bolded is an exceptional point and something I completely understand and relate to. I listened to the album very closely, I didn't just skim the shyt, I listened to it, and that's what threw me off, the mixture of the bad shyt fukking the shyt with potential up.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
It is way overkill, it sounds like he's doing it to do it rather than to make a great song or be effective. It's simple shyt that he's mad over complicated for no reason. That doesn't impress me at all. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was doing that shyt deliberately to impress his hardcore nerd demographic so they eulogize about him like he's God and is kind of trolling in a sense by throwing some of that shyt together. Because he is capable of better than that, but he probably feels like what's the point if I can do this and get so much praise. Some fans fukk an artist up.

He doesn't have certain qualities Nas or Pac have, particularly on this project. People are focusing on the wrong shyt, he's missing a lot of shyt MC and artist wise on the album. The inflections for instance aren't up to par at all, Pac's were perfect, and Nas brings it across when he needs to too. Plus Lupe's voice doesn't help either, both Pac and Nas have a stronger presence on their joints.

Nas can get conceptual but he can maintain the relatability and emotional connection during the song to hit home with the listener in an intellectual AND emotional and musical way. Lupe is forcing 1 aspect which is the puzzle shyt too far and very much missing the emotional aspect and even lacking in the musical/artistry sense.

Some people are literally calling Lupe THE greatest rapper of all time now and this album the greatest in history lol....
I mean what u said is why Pac and Nas are the GOATS to me so I can't disagree wit that..lol...I don't fully agree wit Ur opinions on Lupe tho but to each it's own...

That's cool, you don't need to. As you said to each their own, I'm not mad at anybody liking something they like, if someone enjoys something that's great for them. But gotta let everyone breathe and be honest with their opinion, can't police thoughts and views cause it doesn't fit in, got to keep it 100 and real, good or bad. I will still check Lupe's next album and if I like it will say and vice versa.

I just think it's funny that nikkas sayin it interferes wit the music...I know how that CAN happen cause I've been critical of Lupe for that on other occasions...but I think he found a dope balance wit this album....my wife ain't even a Lupe fan and she even fukks wit the album cause of the way it sounds...she couldn't even take Kendrick Lamar's voice for the whole GKMC ironically..lol

Japan, but from the 989
I won't even lie. I had to listen to the album 3 times to start catching what he is saying. Mural for example only makes since if you visualize what he is saying instead of just listening to the words. I think the thing that is throwing people off is that we don't get this type of album regularly. shyt, you may have to watch

1. Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind

and watch this to get some of the themes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pervert's_Guide_to_Ideology

But this album is not a light listen for the common user.

But Chopper had me like....:salute::salute::salute:

Man fukk all that...I don't see what's not to like about it..I mean even MUSICALLY it's dope..and even catchy...it's not just some complex rubik's cube like nikkas makin it and I actually feel bad for cats that can't feel it cause honestly this is the best piece of work I've heard in years...
:russ::russ: yo n1ggas can't have everything. We've been dumbed down for 7yrs. We just accustomed to simplistic bars lol. Now dudes it's over lyrical and over doing it lol. It's about 3 tracks that go over my head but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the album. I'm glad Lupe is too complicated for dudes. We need more intricate lyricism in the game :lolbron: Lupe the talented :troll:

Shyt James Brown, Mystikal, ODB, and D'Angelo got some great albums. I don't know half the shyt they talking about. Complex lyrics with misinterpretations plus not understanding= classic albums :myman:
