I mean Riff Raff, Kirko Bangz, Lecrae, Trae..
4 relevant rappers, not a lot of states that has more.. NY, GA, Cali, Illinois, Florida, Louisiana (?) and Pennsylvania (Meek, wiz, mac and ? Chevvy?) and that's about it so I wouldn't say dead. There's no movement though, no crews.. Do they even fukk with each other those 4 dudes?

But yes compared to 2005 it's pretty dead.
This nikka said Riff Raff:heh:

Texas rap ain't dead, it's just self contained like the bay. It don't need to be mainstream to be a thriving scene and to generate money.

@aLoss4real proves his idiocy once again
this...i love houston rappers and always appreciated how they had they're own thing going like we did. nobody is looking for your co-sign, plenty of artists getting money and love in their own region and plenty folks from those regions support their artists.

Isn't he half relevant? I don't listen to him but his shyt popup on the net and people know who he is :manny:

He had one ill track though

he's more relevant than most rappers even if you're not a fan.
Truth be told, Texas Rappers are underrated because they don't need Non-Texans to make a living. Texans support home grown music so much, that they can make a good amount of money staying in state...
This is somewhat true, but don't think rappers don't wanna blow up nationally. They do, but can't not due to their own shortfalls but, the cities' failing support system overall. I'm talking about directors, producers, engineers, pr, management, photographers; finding quality professionals in those fields is hard in Houston. I blame it on cronyism and nepotism, that's all I'll say.

What's the Houston scene looking like? I'm moving there at the end of the month and I like to keep up with local artists.

It's easy in Chicago. But I can't really name one H-Town artist other than the ones from back in the day.

texas rap aint dead..its jus well content...these nikkas know the paper work..and aint tryin 2 get fukked..they learned from the nikkas who went mainstream..n came back with shyt..

especially chamillionaire..

ex say what u want bout chingo bling...but a gang of labels wanted him...hell puffy even tried to get pit bull to get in his ear to sign with bad boy south/latin...chingo knew the paper wasnt right so he stayed independent.

texas nikkas know the label game..they know they can eat better doin what they do..than signin with a label..

trae aint done shyt he been with ti...but when he was down with rapalot..distribution wise..trae dropped when want..trae cant even get a release date with grand hustle...

Cause Houston invented that independent shyt. Literally.

But. Ain't nothing coming out of there, too much drink. Lol.
