I have to say though, judging by her IMDB it doesn't look like the high quality work has been flowing well for her since Survivor's Remorse.
A lot of her recent projects ar pretty D list with a bunch of C list actors in them.
It's sad but women who look like Teyonah, however beautiful and talented,
...are just not getting the same quality work as women who look like this:
...They were both in 'Dear White People' but tessa Thompson is part of the Marvel franchise and Teyonah's career is nowhere near that.
No excuses though, this is still an embarrassment and she could simply choose NOT to take this role and hold out for better projects.
How is she not getting any quality work? She has two movies ( one produced by Netflix and the other one by Sony). Shes also in the movie if Beale Street could talk ( which is getting great reviews).
It should be a well known fact that black people into race play are self hating individuals.

there was a rumor she was engaged to some cac like 3-4 years ago but hid it well. there was only one pic online of them at that time but it wasn’t a couple type pic so people gave it a pass like it was a friend or actor. guess they broke it off but like people say the hair is a dead giveaway
