Agreed. Impressing Death was definitely a better motivation than what the movie had him do. It’s understandable, from the character’s point of view.

If I followed the story right, with all six stones, he had the power to do anything he wanted. So how did killing off half the universe become his solution over… anything else?

Cause I think he was on this mission way before he had any stone. He would go to planet’s and offer them this dude and he took over. Kill have the popular or kill everyone and the planet.
