Next year he's getting 16 mill from the option and then that kicks in and he'll have an average salary of 17.4 mill which ain't too different. Kind of a discount.

I'm gonna hate the Wilpons if the Mets don't get a legit outfielder in 2014.
I already know Wright will probably be injured for a substantial part for one of those seasons, and will prob be a .330 OBP/.440 SLG w/ mediocre defense come 2015 and on.

Obviously the Mets overpaid for him, but just about all players get overpaid. The Mets have no more than 42 mil of committed payroll in 2014(including Wright's salary and Bay's deferral). Assuming we retain all of our young players and resign dikkey, the 2014 payroll(including arbitration salaries for the young guys) should be no more than 60 mil. So the Mets have no excuse to go after a guy like Cory Hart and maybe Carlos Gomez in if all of our outfielders suck this year.
