I can't really argue the decision to leave him in. I mean, he did K Tavares on 3, and went 0-2 to Carpenter. Plus they were both lefties. Kinda hard to argue against the best pitcher on the planet in that situation. Was one pitch away from getting out of it. Credit Carpenter for putting together another great at-bat.

And LAWD Holliday crushed that pitch. That's another reason you stick with Kershaw as long as possible: pen is trash rocks outside of Jansen and occasionally Wilson.

I agree with your assessment and I probably would've left Kershaw in myself, but looking back it appeared as though the Cardinals either figured something out or Kershaw was losing it. I don't know if I buy what Harold Reynolds was saying about them stealing signs but they definitely adjusted to Kershaw and Mattingly should've taken him out for JP Howell who's been good all year. Dodgers had everything going for them too...
