On the one hand, I say you should ride your stars as hard as you can because they’re your best pitchers and the shelf life is only so long.Yep..I've heard Andy Petite purposely didn't let his kids pitch till college to see if it was overuse at a young age that caused it and both his kids needed Tommy John anyway

On the other hand, if your SP is statistically the same vs Hitters the 4th time through the order, then I probably don’t have a problem bringing in a reliever to pitch instead.
I mean look, if you’ve got Roger Clemens on the mound, I don’t give a shyt if he’s at 130 pitches in the 8th inning of a 1 run game. Ride it out until there’s real trouble. Now if you’ve got Mariano in the pen, fukk it. Take him out.
Granted everyone ain’t Clemens. And if we are talking about Rich Hill, he’s coming out even if it’s a shutout in the 7th. But context matters. That’s all.
