That was my thinking. Gurriel and Reddikk aren't gonna fetch much in a trade. Springer turns 30 in a couple months and will be a free agent at 31. If your owner doesn't want to go past the luxury tax (he should though with this kinda talent), it makes sense to deal Springer. :yeshrug:
I’m confident this front office can navigate trading Springer AND staying in the top 3 AL teams for the next 4 years or so. They have turned grocery baggers into very good players (Gattis, that 6th end pitcher I can’t rmember his name right now, and so on).

It was a bad trade. Brodie makes a good one with Stroman and does a complete 180 by sending Vargas to Philly for a guy in AA that hits under .200. if he trades Diaz or Syndergaard, he'll need to resign at the end of the season.

Jason Vargas could pitch well for the Phillies but think of Jason Vargas before this first half and also he'll be pitching in Citizens Bank Park.

Watch us end up with Zach Wheeler
Luhnow has been after Wheeler for a long time so there must be something he sees that no one else can get out of him.

It’s a safe move, if we plan on winning it all we have to go big and make another Verlander type of move.
