That's a stretch. Beane + more resources = a title winning GM. We've already seen his blueprint used everywhere.

Oakland's just poor as shyt and can't get to other team's levels without a new stadium.

1.)Didn’t he have a chance to go to the Red Sox and turn it down? I think he did that on purpose. He didn’t want the pressure

2.)Other GMs are using his blueprint and actually having postseason success. The rays actually had a lower pay roll than the A’s this year :mjlol:

Easily. There has never been an executive who has never won shyt in games that mattered that gets praised like he does.

Maybe Daryl money?
Im pretty locked into baseball for most part and I cant remember the last time he got some crazy praise or hype tbh

They had the book way back when but where is all this recent praise Im missing? And that book was moreso detailing the whole moneyball philosophy and not just there to hype up Billy

Just being able to keep As relevant on the payroll they have is impressive. He was also at the forefront of how you see many teams operate now. I think whatever reasonable praise he gets is pretty well deserved. They keep reinventing that team and making the playoffs

Houston has the highest payroll in the league, I dont see the Morey comparison at all

and calling him out for building teams that lose 1 off playoff games like thats some overarching indictment on his team construction doesnt add up for me, hes doing his job getting these teams to the playoffs, baseball can be a crapshoot in the playoffs

Smh, you don’t know what Morey inherited 12 years ago to get to what Houston looks like today. He didn’t have the benefits of high draft picks to make Houston a annual contender

Houston just started with the high payroll. Before last season, they rarely played above the luxury tax threshold. Les used to make Morey do tax savings moves against his better judgement every year. Thats why Houston name was always talked about during the trade deadline.

Billy also stays in the background for the most part, its not like hes on some look at me and the great job Im doing BS - I would take him as my GM in a heartbeat. His loyalty to his situation in Oakland is impressive as well, he could prob get whatever job he wanted in baseball over the years

Im not even a Morey hater, I think hes done a good job for the Rockets overall. I was just saying, I dont think comparing Beane / Morey is apples to apples

Mets fired callaway

:leon:

An overreaction to what the front office didn't do. No one could succeed with that bullpen. The next manager will fail if they don't improve. His only reliable arms were Lugo, Wilson (who missed the entire first half) and Gsellman (who got injured because Wilson wasn't available). The coaches always get fired first anyway. Mets fans are deflecting their anger towards the wrong person.

Washington bullpen was much worst than the Mets

Good point...I admit, I'm surprised he's stayed there as long as he has. I remember the Red Sox went hard after him in the early '00's, but he told 'em no. Beyond that, I can't remember even a rumor about him possibly interviewing/going somewhere else.

What does one have to do with the other? Washington tried to address with major league talent something the Mets didn't do. Brooks Pounders, Paul Sewald, Chris Mazza and Tyler Bashlor were among guys who saw time in the pen. All of them should never be on a major league roster.

1) he has minority ownership in the A’s ORG. that’s why he will never leave.

2) he has the whole damn league copying his blueprint. You can’t say he’s overrated in one sentence and in the next say “everyone’s using his blueprint”

:mjlol:
