Brother please. The 70’s had expansion and the ABA taking talent from the NBA yet the era you listed was the weakest ever? You had teams in the 80’s in both conferences but especially in the West making the playoffs with less than 40 wins.

And part of being able to repeat, 3peat, or even making it back to the finals is injury luck. Those teams just happened to be lucky. Just like the Heat in 14 were unlucky with Wades injuries causing him to falloff a cliff. Or the Warriors in 19 with KD getting hurt. Otherwise the Heat would’ve had a better chance. And the Warriors most likely do it.

And you’re forgetting the common denominator those teams had. I know he’s unpopular on here and everyone likes to dikkride Popovich. But those teams had Phil Jackson coaching them with Tex Winter on his side. Can’t be a coincidence

And finally you discredit the Celtics as much as anyone on here so idk why you even brought that up

As impressive as the 3-peat is, it seriously highlights the lack of depth in any league.
Literally the only people who hype up this 3-peat stuff are basketball stans -- for the most obvious of reasons.

Everyone else recognizes that 1 team dominating championships for 3+ years is a great feat, but reflects poorly on the competition.

The 1950s Yankees.
The 1950s Canadiens.
The 1960s Celtics.
The 1960s Packers.

Sure, the Bulls and Lakers accomplished theirs in the 1990s and beginning of 2000s decades. But there are legitimate arguments about how much league expansion and dilution of the league played a factor in that.

A team in this era not winning 3 championships in a row doesn't reflect poorly on their greatness. It reflects on how much more difficult it is to separate oneself from the competition -- or perhaps also -- it reflects how great others are at adapting.

This is pathetic

And again, the NBA literally had a referee scandal for the Lakers. 2000 and 2002 were blatantly rigged

Go look at the KD Warriors and you can see why it's so brutally difficult to pull this off
You need so much to go right for 3 consecutive seasons
They missed out on their chance cause 2 HoF players went down with devastating injuries during the finals

NBA Playoffs are the ultimate endurance test. It really takes a lot of luck to get to the finish line with your stars intact. And generally if you get there you usually will play a team that had 1 or 2 major injuries. It's unavoidable.
Look at the Bucks. They won the title and haven't had one healthy postseason since then.

Unpopular opinion but The Nets would've beat the Bucks if Kyrie was healthy that year.

Imagine bean and Jordan not being able 3 peating with teammates like Durant/klay/dray or kyrie/love/AD :hhh:.
If these two teams played each other every year somebody has to lose...

This is like asking why the Celtics and Lakers couldn't 3 peat when they played each other damn near every year.
