If we’re being real (and this is coming from someone who is light in complexion) a “light skinned black person” can’t experience colorism.

The problems that “light skinned black people” face are usually minuscule compared to the other way around.

It’s like when white people try to compare black people cracking jokes about CACs to actual systemic racism that affects black people.

The lightskin vs dark skin conversation got reignited on tiktok by African women NOT black American women. I watched it play out in real time. African women who are content creators are going around telling lightskinnned black women that they not black lol. Eventually the topic went viral and now it's spread to twitter.

Right!!!

Africa women claim Lori Harvey is mixed.

People question the Blackness of light skinned people on here all the time. There are posts that refer to lightskinned people as piss colored as an insult.

I'm not saying that its as bad as it was say in the 70s and 80s or even worse before where there was a sort of caste system. But it is still there to an extent.

You forgot these too:

How many times a day you wash/bathe?

How many wash cloths do you use in the shower?

Who pay for what when we go out on a date?

How much should be spent on a first date and to where?

Bill paying roles, when in a relationship/smashing situation/situationship

That's absolutely ridiculous. Why do you think some of the most vocal people are light skinned? Because they're in a constant battle trying to prove their blackness to both black and white people. It's either "you're not black"...or "you're not black enough".

Awful comparison

Dude, Tank Davis had to live in the same ghetto as everybody else, dodge the same bullets as everybody else, and be hungry just like everybody else.

White folks don't have to live in the same neighborhood (even same house) with Black people, go to the same schools, or be harassed by the cops like Black people. That's why we don't give them any quarter.

Being light-skinned (at best) is just being a less-threatening nikka. It doesn't put you in a different neighborhood:francis:

Going to have to disagree, still.

Black people are not the only ones born in the hood, there are plenty of white people who grew up in the ghetto.

Doesn’t mean they still don’t have an inherent advantage in this system.

Same with people my complexion. I’m just honest enough to admit it.

— Black people with lighter skin are able to make more money and get certain opportunities that other black people can’t because CACs see us as more “presentable”.

— We receive less time for the same crimes committed by other black people.

— Are viewed as smarter and experience less discrimination overall.

Ultimately all I’m trying to say is it sounds stupid to complain about being joked on in middle school and high school and calling that “colorism”.

Meanwhile black people who look more unambiguously black have to eat way more shyt here in Amerikkka than I ever will.

All that still doesn't negate the fact that light skinned people (myself included) experience colorism. This isn't a competition to see who receives more. It's a conversation about if it exists, and it does.

But what does any of that mean if you're still a nikka? :francis:

Yes, if the choice is between 2 Black people, they may choose the lighter one, that's fine.

The problem is is that they're not choosing Black people most of the time at all:yeshrug:

They'd rather have Whites, Hispanics, or non-ADOS Blacks with them before ADOS Blacks at all.

That's why at the top, you see Barack, Kamala, and Karine Jean Pierre.

They're not ADOS:francis:

And there are not "plenty of Whites" in the ghettos of Amerikkka.

Let's go to the worst parts of the Southside of Chicago, or anywhere else in Amerikka & I'll bet the population is usually 90% Black with a few Hispanics sprinkled in, usually.

Amerikkka is designed so that White folks don't have to live on O-block, that's the point. Plenty of light-skinned nikkaz in the hood.

U buggin the fukk out. I seen light skin chick's get they faced sliced. Hair cut. Jumped. All kinda shyt just cause they light skin and shorties was hating. Don't apply that cracker shyt to this cause it ain't the same. If we both in the black community and either of us getting hate for our complexion it's colorism. Point blank.

Do light skin black folks get mistreated and face prejudice, absolutely.

But ultimately, no, they don’t face colorism, they won’t ever have it like those that have dark skin. It’s no one fault but disgusting system of white supremacy and it’s insidious spawns.

Bullshyt. Within the black community. They DO face colorism. Outside of the black community. We ALL face racism. So what are u talking about? Imagine bringing this dumb ass conversation to Malcolm X or Huey Newton. Lol. This entire issue is self hate.
