Yeah but Japan started it so it ain't really looked at like that. :manny:

They honestly had no real reason to declare on America, at least not the way they did it

America got them back tho. Nuked them and the fallout turned the legendary imperial Japanese soldiers into anime watching incels :unimpressed:

Honestly they did lol. They never include the trade embargoes we put on them before the war. They spent years trying to son Japan. They did kind of deserve them because of the atrocities they were committing in Korea, China, etc. The decided to attack during a diplomatic meeting in the US and they also physically invaded Alaska. I don’t think the bombs were morally right but that fight would have lasted years and was more merciful than continued firebombings.

It’s insane to me that we are taught to see it as a necessary and justified act. Yes, Japan refused to surrender, attacked us first, and their military committed horrific acts on the
Chinese and Koreans.

But, none of that justifies obliterating two cities full of children.
:mindblown:

to be fair.......

Absolutely NOTHING about combat is ever fair. A dude in our AO lost a leg thinking the enemy wouldn’t dare target the porta-potty’s with a recoiless rifle. It’s always been about getting the upper hand by any means. There isn’t any right or wrong while there is fighting going on. You can try your best to mutually agree to limits but it always spills outside of those pre-determined limits.

Nobody wanted to invade Japan on ground and a lot of nikkas, literally, would’ve been crash test dummies trying to fight soldiers on the ground who didn’t think twice about committing kamikaze...

A lot of our grandfathers and uncles specifically...that would’ve been a bigger L for America than Vietnam by far...

Yeah thats the thing about Japan. Their soldiers would fight to the death. Didn't mind hand to hand combat and had no problem committing suicide for the emperor.

Also the US wanted to not just test fat boy and little boy. They wanted to show the world and even russia what they had. Plus they weren't sure how far advanced german was on their program and what technology Russia got from germany with the fall of the nazis.

For the scientist they were hoping that the bomb would scare everyone to not ever use it. But we all know how pandoras box works.

those Kamikaze pilots were wit the shyts tho :demonic: :mindblown:

YES! When you really look at it, it was a 10/10 attack. Unexpected, early in the morning, decimated an entire fleet then zipped their asses right back across the pond like nothing happened. I just hate it had to be us :to:

You’re right, but I consider it more of a genocide than a war crime.

The Holocaust predates the war and wasn’t the reason behind WWII so it’s not really a war crime. Europe was content to look away until Germany started invading other countries.

I wouldn’t say look away. That sounds like they supported him. Most people DONT want conflict. Bystander effect on a national scale. They much rather use diplomacy to find common ground with their enemies (see Russia/China/North Korea today). We don’t support what these dudes are doing. We just don’t want to bother going to war with them. It was the same back then. Even as vile as Hitler was, it was basically “we’re not gonna send our kids to go die over something we’re not involved in” kinda thing even though it was foul. Then Hitler overstepped.

Crazy part was they miss judged and missed out on all the american aircraft carrier fleet which was out at seas. Which in turn was one of the reasons we won the pacific later on during the war.
