The Atomic bombing of Japan is the worst war crime of the 20th century

It’s insane to me that we are taught to see it as a necessary and justified act. Yes, Japan refused to surrender, attacked us first, and their military committed horrific acts on the
Chinese and Koreans.

But, none of that justifies obliterating two cities full of children.

And even if Japan had surrendered, it wouldn't have been all at once. There had been several coup attempts internally too.

I just went down the YouTube rabbit hole and saw how powerful the nukes we have today are. Sh*t is absolutely terrifying The Tsar bomb would take out New York City and the entire northern half of New Jersey

Exactly. We were keeping them from getting oil among other things. I learned in high school that if anybody were to ever get in the way of the USA getting it's oil, its an automatic war.

And if Japan had that oil they would've easily steamrolled everyone.

People forget that the Japanese Navy had an entire side of the planet on lockdown - the US didn't even beat them one up. The US won on attrition. They couldn't keep pace with us, that's all it was. If Japan had the resources.... they probably run the table in the Pacific with ease.
