Number seems high actually for Americans. Land of the lazy. People sit all day and avoid stairs like it's the plague. People can't even simply walk the few extra steps to return their shopping cart.

I wfh and manage to get anywhere from 8K - 12K steps each day. I try to walk as much as I can.

I just walk around my building outside. The grocery store is across the street from my apartment so I usually walk if I need something I can carry. A 5000 step day would be a day I am truly doing nothing and staying inside all day, AKA Sunday.

I get around 7k if I go to the office, and that's only because I make the conscious effort to take the route I do that includes more walking and less changes on public transport.

I make up the other 3k on my own accord, If I work from home and don't force myself to take a walk I could easily clock in at minus 1K lol.

facts. nobody is hitting 10k in a desk/stationary job without making a serious effort to get steps in throughout the day. 4-5k seems high unless they are only talking about the youth
True. If I didn’t try I would probably take 1500 steps a day because I have a desk job lol.
