The Beastie Boys deserve strong consideration for GOAT group - they are right there w/ Mobb, Wu etc

"known beasties supporter"

"that one album"

Paul Revere and Slow and Low were the only song Run and DMC helped with, and Slow and Low only because that was supposed to be a Run DMC song first.

That one album, their classic is Paul's Boutique and that wasn't even released on Def Jam.

Pretty funny to see Beastie topics on sohh/the coli. No one knows what they're talking about :pachaha:

paul's boutique is trash.

beasties had the biggest drop on a follow-up rap album ever.

in hindsight, i guess you can say im more of a "licensed to ill" supporter than a beasties supporter. i can live with that title.

It's general consensus that Paul's Boutique surpassed LTI by leaps and bounds.

But I'll let you cook brah :damngoodcoffee:

License to Ill, Paul's Boutique, Ill Communication....all 3 are certified classics... and Hello Nasty and Check Your Head are easily 4-4.5 / 5 albums.

Let's not forget how their sound revolutionized an era and really gave birth to LL Cool J. Rick Rubin is still one of the most sought after producers in the game. And his/Beastie Boys sound is VERY distinct.

Mobb and Wu have some great albums but definitely not 3 certified classics. Only group that can rival Beasties greatness is Outkast... but again I think a strong case can be made on just how much influence these dudes had on Hip Hop during the Golden Years.
bone and n.w.a. are the best hiphop groups

so the people who know what theyre talking about concerning hip-hop are white? thats basically what youre saying cuz black people were not f*ckin with them after def jam.

this is why white rap fans are so hated. instead of playing your position as guests, you want to take an obnoxious authoritative stance on a culture & music that you dont even fully understand.

u try to clown with that last comment, but if you really lived this instead of frontin behind a keyboard, you wouldnt have even typed that dry ass joke. the thought wouldnt have even crossed your mind.

and i apologize to the quality white posters if i come off too rough when saying stuff like this, but the majority of these white cats on here man.........smh.

No one was even talking about race breh :mjlol:

But you want to get into an argument about race rather than the very apparent gulf in quality between LTI and PB. What happened to you man? I thought your opinion was respected on sohh and here for hip-hop. Didn't know you were this out of touch :upsetfavre:

I'ma roll with Wacky on this. I tried to listen to a few tracks of Paul's Boutique. And I thought that shyt was weak.

With that said, I can see the appeal. It's on some alternative hip hop, DJ Shadow shyt.

it is indeed about race.

ur a white guy, trying to talk down to a black man because hes not holding your white tastes on black music in high-regard. thats exactly what this is, whether youre aware of it or not.

a bunch of people done already told you that black people stopped rockin with them after LTI. yet, youre still in here trying to shovel your chit while attempting to talk down to me, claiming that im out of touch with MY culture because im not honoring a white bul album.

:mindblown:

I feel you. It's unfortunately something that no one really talks about: the fact that White people have very different musical tastes from Black people. And we party different. Again, I'm generalizing. White people are not monolithic, and neither are Black people by a long shot. Music can cross generational and racial lines, and that's what makes it great.

But a lot of modern music has been created due to racial tensions and an attempt to break away from the norm. This shyt is reality. Hip hop is party music. Always has been, always will be.

White dudes in college can party to Paul's Boutique. But I can guarantee that almost no Black people can party to that album or even a song off that album.

I'm not white, for one. And two, PB is a great hip-hop album, no matter how much you try speak for black peoples as a guardian for rap music Hate to be the one to break it to you about 25 years after the fact. :francis:

Makes your whole posting career suspect honestly :francis:
