The British were outdoing White American artists (maybe besides Bob Dylan). However, AA's had the British beat, but I will say that the British were better than the Cac American artists. Before Hendrix there was Motown. you mean ElvisAll they did was ripoff African American Blues artists
There wouldn't be any Beatles without Little Richard, and The Stones owe their entire existence to Muddy Waters.

I gotta call a spade a spade, when Britain's artists starting the British Invasion in the U.S. during the 60's the had us beat. Even though I make fun of the British a lot they were putting in work heavy. Man, bands like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and others a like took over the world. I will say the only ones from the U.S. who out did the Stones for a short time were Grand Funk Railroad. Other than that and some Southern Rock those bands had NOTHING on the British. I will say that the U.S. made a turn around in the 70's though.
I will say that you had the Monkees, but they were a flash in the pan. The Doors were cool though. Besides the British, Black music at that time was magnificent.
You agree?
Without Elvis, there is no Beatles. He made it okay for whites to play rock n roll music.
Paul McCartney's distinctive whoop is a copy of Little Richard's. The Beatles learned their guitar playing from listening to Chuck Berry records.

Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis made it okay for white American kids to listen to and play rock music. Whites across europe had been listening to jazz, blues and rock records already.Without Elvis, there is no Beatles. He made it okay for whites to play rock n roll music.
I didn't listen to much Velvet Underground. TBH, I followed Both Lou Reed and Iggy Pop when they went solo. I did listen to some of The Stooges records though.Music is subjective I think both America and Britian were doing great musically during this time. Britian may have had The Beatles, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and Rolling Stones but, America had bands like Sly and the Family Stone, The Doors, and Velvet Underground going at the same time. Music at that time was all a gift![]()
