Ok serious question so don't get offended. What sort of research could draw this conclusion though? What kind of research would make the bolded a fact and not a mental sickness/delusion enabled by technology? After all suicide rates are higher among all LGBT groups. If gender is fluid then what is masculinity and femininity?

I feel like people who talk this bs are just parroting something they read. When you look at the lines they draw for their logic closely it looks arbitrary as fukk.

Being gay or lesbian used to be considered a mental illness then research showed otherwise, being depressed used to be a 'mental illness' PMS used to be considered a mental illness. Again masculinity and femininity are defined by social constructs, we as a society decide what is masculine and what is feminine, hell you can define that differently from a cultural standpoint from culture to culture. It's ok if you disagree, but this is where the thinking is going and this article was from 2007. Also transexual/trangenders have existed since time in memorial, but we really didn't have proper terms for these people, plus there was no social outlet where these people could meet safely. So in short this is not a new thing but our understanding of these people is evolving, even now with this discussion.

Again, how does the "research prove otherwise"? What research method or experiments determined this? depression is considered a mental illness now instead of just a mental state now. Definitions can be changed at the drop of a hat. Easier than rewriting history too.

Sorry but this is bullshyt. And again, I want to know what sort of research could possibly prove this for people to recite it so frequently. Who has proven that gender didn't exist before society? Besides, according to this logic neither concept technically exists. If masculinity is just made up by society on the fly what are the features that distinguish it from femininity?

It's like you acknowledging these definitions and terms are made at a whim of the powers that be yet people wanna prance around faux enlightened like they spitting undeniable facts when reciting half baked propaganda. you nikkas sound like sheep

Here's the thing, I can't change your mind regardless of what I post. Clearly your opinion is set and honestly this wouldn't even be such an issue if Kaitlin/Bruce didn't win an ESPY. which is a made up award from a made up channel that while is shows sports coverage is clearly based on entertainment and pop culture 1st and foremost. I didn't even disagree that the other nominees didn't deserve it more, especially Stuart Scott who I know personally and got to know his family (many moons ago). I was just stating that the outrage was false especially in an award show that prides its self on of the moment dikkriding.

Definitions do change absolutely again, I'm not arguing but sex and gender are changing definitions based on psychological terms and social strata. Again I'm not saying I agree or disagree, merely stating facts. You cannot compare this to slavery, which was historical and inarguable. We can easily trace the documents of such conditions. Even if the history books try to down play slavery it cannot be disproven because there are far too many personal accounts and empirical evidence.

In contrast sexuality and gender norms are still being defined, also again a peer reviewed article has to reviewed by supporters and you have to defend your opinion to detractors as well, obviously those article are a little limited because this is still a relatively new subject and the discussion is still going on as we speak hence the difference in viewpoints. Like I said, I didn't like the all the shine Kaitlin was getting as a transwoman (white privelege) when Laverne Cox did it first and didn't get nearly the shine Kaitlin. More egregious was that Serena Williams a woman did not get regognition for her femininity because of her large frame and physical ability.

I'm not trying to make you accept transgender or transexual but moreso I'm trying to say the conversation right now is evolving and that we are learning about it more and more, fair enough and if not we'll just agree to disagree.

Ancient Greece and Rome crumbled because of their inability to adapt to viewpoints outside of their cultural norms. Well Greece got wiped out by a stronger Roman Army, on top of natural disaters. Rome got wiped out be not being able to control the rise of monotheism on top of infighting and essentially being over thrown by the whims of the lower classes.

Like I said homosexuals and transgenders despite the media exposure make up less than 4% of the population. Even if you take into account bisexuals and downlows maybe another 1%, if that. But the point is people arent becomeing more gay they are just being comfortable exposing themselves more in the open.

Rome got picked apart by small groups of barbarians, visigoths, vandals, and huns. Which could be ISIS to he United States- look up moral decay breh.. not saying it is fact but it is a theory that has some evidence.
All I am saying is while these crazy suicide bombers on the other side of the world are sharpening their knives we are busy figuring out ways to pay for sex changes for the military..
