I always said that once rap no longer became a form of rebellion that the Whites will take it over. The moment that rap commercially became all materialistic and vain was the moment it no longer rebelled the system. nikkas today sound like Republicans on the radio. The thing that appealed to "Lil Eric" living in the suburbs was the ghetto experience. That's the shyt that became the whites in the suburbs initial attraction to the culture. The moment that every radio song became devoted to materialism and women is when it opened the floodgates for the whites to get in the game and reproduce. As long was we was on our N.W.A, 2PAC, Ruff Ryders, G-Unit shyt we could keep them at bay because they couldn't replicate that. But the shyt that's on the radio now can be replicated by an Asian kid from Canada. I blame nikkas for that.

You laugh at TS but look where Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, House, Techno, Electro, Trip Hop and Drum N Bass ended up. They all started black believe it or not.

Excellent posts.

Macklemore makes this discussion very relevant. Do you guys really believe a black indy rapper could have the success he had? shyt, even Mac Miller had a #1 album.

But what I really find interesting is how white people support each other regardless of the circumstance. Would a black rock band receive as much love from blacks as Macklemore, Mac Miller, or Eminem got from whites?

A question ya need to ask yourselfs is. Macelmore, a newcomer, white indie artist, got barely any promo on urban radio and urban internet chanels and still puts up 700k

While Tyler The Creator (internet nerd fan favorite, whole bunch of white fans, has a TV show, cult following etc.) who is ALSO INDIE. Put out his album a couple months ago and still hasnt seen 100k

What does that tell you? :mjpls:

It has begun :blessed:

I don't know, I mean look at Tyler's singles. Macklemore's success is directly due to the performance of Thrift Shop on the charts. That single sold the album and without it, Macklemore wouldn't exist. Tyler The Creator doesn't make singles like that. I think it's that simple.

But the thing is, im pretty sure Tyler has a larger fanbase and a larger reach than Mackelmore. Hip Hop wise at least, Tyler is bigger than Mackelmore. Its jus simply boils down to people not buying Black Artists albums anymore.

The value of our music has been diluted. Unless you want to tell me that Cacmore has a larger core fanbase than ODDFuture?:usure: shyt even Mac Miller outsold Tyler by 5x. And Miller didnt even have any singles for his digital album :manny:.

This is a BLACK and WHITE thing, no matter how much people try n downplay it.

Me personally I dont care. I actually think this whole thing is funny :Obeezy: , but lets call it for what it is :manny:

You know what it tells me? That a song about being broke and shopping at a Thrift Shop is more accessible than crying about your step dad and ashing blunts on women.

contrary to all the "industry plant" talk, there's no simple formula for success

Big K.R.I.T. - Hometown Hero - YouTube

Big K.R.I.T - King (Directed By Creative Control) - YouTube

What do you mean excuse? You keep comparing apples to oranges.

You really think that Big KRIT song is half as catchy as Thrift Shop :comeon: Just be honest with yourself. It isn't even about who the better artist is because clearly its KRIT. That doesn't mean he has a catchier song.

Theres been tons of Macklemore's in the form of Whitey Ford, Slug, Haystak, Bubba Sparxx, etc. They come and they go. I think you are overhyping NOTHING but want to tell me im down playing race :childplease:

Muhfukkas where is Bubba Sparxx? Nowhere. Why? Because no matter how white he is it isn't enough to keep artist going past one or two songs because he doesn't have it. Macklemore doesnt have longevity in him. That whitness sure helped Whitey didn't it? How come Evidence doesn't sell more than 20k records when he comes out when hes white?

Calm down cracker :Obeezy:. I already told you what it is. You keep coming with these new variables and alternatives. It is what it is. WHITES GET MORE SUPPORT THAN BLACKS . I already said im not trippin over it like these otha Black Militants so fall the fukk back :Rozay:

Mac Miller did 500k indie too. Whats your hip hop analysis about that :patrice:? He makes super appealing & relatable music that no otha black artist can harness too? :Obeezy2:

You keep changing the variables, you went from comparing Macklemore to Tyler The Creator then when it was pointed out that was dumb you jumped to Big KRIT. Once I pointed out that again, you are comparing apples to oranges Im the one coming with new alternatives?

Clearly he (Mac Miller) makes music people like because people bought the record. If it was just his skin color that sold it how come Asher Roth doesn't have a career anymore? How come Yelawolf couldn't do more than 200k? Machine Gun Kelly ?

Like I said, if it was just about race then a lot of these guys would be doing better but as usual white rappers tend to be one and done. You can ask Bubba Sparxx, Asher Roth, Yelawolf, Vanilla Ice, Whitey Ford, Kreyshawn, etc

I can't wait for Macklemore to be gone by the end of the year so you guys can stop fukking whining instead of purchasing records you actually do like to pump up other peoples numbers.

LOL, no they didn't.

Rap has been one of/the most popular genre of music for a long time now, long before 2000. The odds that anybody in their late 20's early 30's that wasn't exclusively listening to country or some shyt like that probably in fact grew up on "hip hop", at least in the commercial sense. Even the "boy band" craze was really built on top of acts like new edition like ole boy said.

How many 'casual' fans of hip-hop were white? A LOT I bet.

Yet you up here C/S a nikka that seems to be getting the bulk of his hip hop experience from mass media...like a casual fan.

Look kid, im not even arguing with you anymore about this. The reason why I compared Miller and Macelmore to Tyler is cuz they are all INDIE. One set of indie artists put up numbers, the other set didnt. Tyler is more popular than Miller n Mackelmore. Tours,Cult Following,Magazines,TV shows,Co-signs, Commercials, Radio interviews etc. He has a bigger fanbase. Logically speaking the one with the bigger fanbase would have more sales? RIGHT? Yet both those dudes put up more numbers than TYLER. If you cant see what is going on in between the lines. I dont kno what to tell ya.

Your White Guilt is spilling all over the place :lupe: . Im done here. Unlike the rest of these black panthers I dont give a fukk about race relations. All I was talkin bout here were the numbers.

Yeah my white guilt is spilling out when I am the one pointing out that white rappers always go away quickly

I gave you tons of examples of white rappers not doing shyt after a hit song but you tried to dodge it so you didn't have to address it. Which is exactly why you went out of your way to delete that whole section from your quote.

Tyler isn't 'indie' like you want to think he is. Odd Future's manager is a very very well connected individual. Mac Miller is the only white rapper to do well in a really long time outside of Eminem. Yelawolf and Machine Gun Kelly are waiting for their gold plaques for their skin color.
