This isn't about the VMA's supporting real hip hop. Tonight's VMA's is microcosm of what's about to happen to hip hop. The takeover is now in motion.

Less and less people listen to radio every year.
Its not like back in the day where you found new artist by listening to the radio & magazines.

Dude was arguably the best rapper in the world prior to the screaming era he's going thru. Macklemore can make the safest music he wants without me complaining about it, just don't label it as hip hop and I'm good with it. There's an alternative and contemporary lane that's wide open. Every award he gets under the hip hop category is 1 he's taking away from nikkas that are actually better.

Why limit it just to Macklemore? If it was Trinidad James winning those awards would you really feel better? Kendrick Lamar won 2 awards at the BET Awards (not like anyone really gave a shyt since nobody remembers or cares who won or lost those awards), but Drake won some awards over him. A$AP Rocky won over Poetic Justice (albeit Kendrick was on A$AP's song too but my point stands). My stance on award shows when it comes to rap has always been that we don't care enough anymore to validate our own artists but I'm supposed to expect someone else to do so for us?

If we're judging by popularity when it comes to MTV, Macklemore's got the 2 most popular hip-hop songs out, hate it or love it. I'm not seeing this invasion though. I'm seeing one white artist take off in a way we haven't seen since Em. If that's an invasion, I'm waiting on a mob of fat white singers to warm Adele's seat.
