The center position is not dead!

Noah's game is sooooo ugly. Now there's one who plays like Dale Davis. A lot of these "5s" would be playing their true position of 4 in the 90s....getting their Elden Campbell on and half of them aren't seeing quality mins.

People remember Vlade mostly for flopping, but Vlade was a match-up nightmare in the post. He was old-school crafty, right-left hand jump hook, could pass with the best of them and step out for the 12'. He was also a solid on the ball defender until he started strictly flopping. He'd give Dwight fits, Bynum too, but I think Bynum would also be able to come back.

Of course no one is talking about the Joe Wolf, Ervin Johnson, Todd MacCollough, Matt Geiger, Chris Dudley, Ostertag, Longley, Ike Austin, Adonal Foyle, Mark Bryant...but players like Vlade, Brad Miller, Hot Rod, Willis, Duckworth, Brad Daugherty, Seikaly...sure. They all put up better numbers than most of today's Cs

I agree the 90's era had more depth but guys like Dwight and Gasol to me are just as good or better than the Vlade's and Brad Miller's of the world. And Demarcus puts up just as good as numbers as some of those players you named too. Albeit with a lower fg percentage. Again, i know this era of centers is nowhere near the 90's but the media would have us thinking every center was 6'9 now playing out of position and not scoring double digits. When i'm pretty sure at least half are 6'11 and average doube digits in points or rebounds.

Fact is centers in the NBA are bums now... Niccaz was REAL eager to scoop up Asik. Asik wouldnt have got tic with Luc Longley, Will Perdue, and Bill Wennington on the roster. He'd been cut. Now this nicca is a legit center. Dwight woulda been a Ho Grant type power forward when there were actual good centers in the league.

Asik is easily better than all those bums you named. Ima Chicago fan and all those players were just there because they were 7'0 and nothing more. Luc was the best and he averaged double digits once. Asik is getting a doube double now i know he would be able to at the least to what they did if he played with the Bulls in he 90's.

Wennington had that baseline J and could pass that was essential in the triangle and key in keeping the lane open for MJ & Pip.
Perdue woulda been close to Asik but he had better hands and passing than Omer.

Omer putting up #'s is a direct reflection of there being no C's in the league. As highlighted by the 90's Bulls keeping 3 Asik level C's at all times.

I'll say maybe Luc was as good as Omer. But Perdue and Wennington were straight 12th men types. I know Asik ain't great but i've watched the Bulls for over 20 years and he's definitely better than those two.

I dont know if you watched the Sixers take the Bulls out last year, but in the final game of that series, in the final minute, Asik was on the floor completely fukcin the game up. Are you telling me you would not have rather had Bill Cartwright, Will Perdue, Stacey King, Scott Williams, Brian Williams, Luc Longley, Bill Wennington, Buddah Edwards, and The Chief over Omer?

Sure i'd take Cartwright, Bison Dele, The Chief, and Buddah over him. Those guys were legit players who put up numbers.
