He's from the Doc Rivers coaching tree. Which means he's a great motivator (well at least early Doc) and is usually great out of timeouts. (which is why its surprising they didn't call a timeout after the KD 3? They had one remaining right?) Blatt couldn't figure out how to help make Love effective...Lue has figured that out. But he's got other flaws as well. Its like when you hire your OC to be your HC in football. Sometimes you can get worse at what you were hired for. Thats what happened to him and his defensive scheme.

Especially way too much trust in certain guys. Tristan has no business playing this series.

Ironically this year's Cavs remind of the Heat from 2014 when people were calling for Beasley to play in a series where they are getting dominated. Derrick Williams seems to be that guy this year.
:ehh: We had a lot of people who felt this way. Both teams were sorely lacking in bench production. Good insight on Lue as well.

I'm not sure Sabo would have done something as poorly as that.

Again I don't blame LeBron for the Korver shot. That was great basketball play to open great shooter.

Once it was clear Kyrie was fukking around LeBron needed to run over there and set a screen or something. He needed to be involved in that play. Klay was the not the matchup for that kind of shot. If anything Kyrie should have tried to force the switch with Curry at least.
:dwillhuh:

It wasn't a great basketball play at all. LeBron wasted far too much time and basically put Korver under pressure with a man on him, with seconds remaining -
One of the very few great things Draymond did in that game.

- LeBron wastes time by dribbling out the clock, and he's still above the 3-pt line with seven seconds left, he then tries to break down Draymond with seconds remaining
- Once LeBron realizes he can't shake Draymond, he passes it to Korver with three seconds left and Curry's right on him, and contests the shot

Yet dudes will swear that LeBron makes the right decisions. No he doesn't. Dude wasted all that time and ends up kicking it out to a marked shooter with three seconds left on the shotclock. He was close enough to the basket to put in a floater like Durant did on the previous possession. I'm glad he wasn't bailed out, because he most certainly didn't deserve to.

And I don't see how you can criticize Kyrie for that shot, it wasn't like LeBron wanted any part of taking it (Bron was 0-2 in the last 5 minutes + passed up multiple opportunities).

"I wasn't 100 percent, but who cares? I was playing," Curry said. "I was out there trying to help my team win and that's all that really matters. I've taken advantage of the summer to get right and I still have a little bit of work to go."

I think the rub here is that although LeBron may a smart basketball play, people wanted to see him takeover in the final minutes. Especially when you're considered to be the best player in the world with the game literally hanging in the balance.
People may say they want that, but they really don't.

Exactly. They want him to have a wide open shooter in the corner so he'll pass to the uncovered shooter and then for the shooter to miss so they can criticize him for passing to an open shooter for 3 instead of shooting a long 2 through a double team. It's been this way since 2007 against Detroit.

Not drawn up, but Love sets a pick on Curry and LeBron passed it to a wide open Korver. Great look.

And :mjlol: at you not criticizing that Kyrie shot. If Harden did that you woulda made two threads about it. :pachaha:

Here's the problem with this, Curry could see it coming from a mile away because LeBron took too long breaking down Draymond. That's why when LeBron drove, Curry rolled right off Love's screen and was right in Korver's shooting space before he even took off. LeBron should've taken advantage the moment Curry signaled for the switch with Durant, and driven into the paint when Curry's back was turned. That way by the time Curry was aware of what was going on, it would've been too late.

Plus I don't see the sense in running down the clock and forcing the shooter to go straight up with seconds remaining when the defense is set.

And if you pay close attention, Curry purposefully positioned himself on the inside of Love to bait LeBron into passing to Korver; Curry put a swim move on Love before LeBron even passed the ball and was right there when Korver caught it.

Draymond might have to give him his DPOY after that read. :wow:
And :mjlol: at you not criticizing that Kyrie shot. If Harden did that you woulda made two threads about it. :pachaha:
He should've taken a jumper inside the arc, but I can't criticize him for actually trying to score. Wanna tell me what the hell the Cavs were doing on offense late in the game? They only made ONE field goal in the last five minutes, and ended up being outscored 0-11 down the stretch. Somebody needed to do something. What was the alternative? LeBron ISO like the play before?
