Right-wingers are blaming the policies of sanctuary cities for the death of this poor woman, but of course we all know for a fact that is not true.

OP I hope you won't consider Democrats defending sanctuary cities rationalizing this verdict.

Case aside, this situation will strengthen the ‘secure the border’ rhetoric.
Crossing illegally five times then charged with killing a white woman is gonna play out well for the gop politically.
:yeshrug:

Ain't nobody building that shyt and who gonna pay for it.

Dumb ducks cant even get their tax bill right

"Based on the evidence, the gun was pointed at the ground and fired at about knee-height, 1 1/2 feet to 2 feet from the ground, Norris said. “If your desire is to injure someone, this is not a high-probability way to do it,” he said." Also in this article, barely any gun shot residue was found on Zarate, which sort of support the defense's assertion that it went off while it was still wrapped in a t-shirt."

“The notion that it was an intentional shot to kill somebody belies credulity,” said Lempert, a former reserve officer with the Los Gatos police, noting that the bullet ricocheted off the pavement, ultimately traveling 200 feet — the equivalent of more than 10 lanes of traffic. “But the pressure on the prosecution was enormous.”

:ohhh:

I understand the verdict better now.

So we will have to wait and see if Democrats are going to rationalize this verdict in the next 24 hours?
DON LEMON, CNN: But here's the bottom line with the jury. The jury believed what the evidence, whatever evidence was presented in court that it was an accidental shooting from a gun that was left behind by someone else. That's what the jury made their verdict on.

does this sound familiar? like when a pig murders someone in cold blood?

if you think democrats crying about DACA and sanctuary cities is effective politics on the national stage, then we'll agree to disagree :jayhub:

without getting into the specifics. this is a pretty landmark case :yeshrug: and while right or wrong can be debated, lets talk about tangibles

should they really get behind this acquittal? are we really going to toss the republicans such a red meat layup in 2018, 2020?

The verdict was correct. The prosecutor's office got political and try to go with a murder charge. The facts of the matter is that it was involuntary manslaughter. Should he have been here? Absolutely not but that wasn't relevant to the scope of the case. Will the right get behind this to push their own agenda? Probably but it might not be the best case to do so. For now it will a rally cry for stringent immigration measures but it won't go far.

Then again the immigration debate has been racialized (it shouldn't) so it might stick around longer than these gun deaths.

The only way you can bridge those two is if the cops fired the weapon at the ground and the bounced up and hit the suspect.

Killing someone for taking their CHL is a lot worse than a bullet that ricochet off the ground and hit a white woman.

There are usually 500+ accidental gun deaths a year in America, that's what happens when you have that many guns in circulation. That has nothing to do with intentional misuse of force by cops.

You only care about this one because the shooter happened to be illegal and the victim happened to be a white woman. :scust:
