I dunno how you could listen to anything he put from 99 to 03 and then listen to his recent material and say he's still got it lyrically :snoop:

I can't stand the screaming, I thought when he came bavk on relapse aside from the accents, I thought he was onto something, but I don't think it sold as well as he would've liked, so he got a new gimmick and it's screaming his head off, I'm not feeling it at all.

But it seems to be working in the sakes department, so I assume that's what his fans want.

Good lyricism isn't elongated words, and compound syllables (although those things can enhance it).

Good lyricism is about the quality of impact your words have on your audience.

u can try to flip it anyway you want...dude never fell off...he may have made songs you didnt like by testing his creativity n shyt...but he never fell off. Encore was the only period in his music where he slipped up a bit and I think a lot of it had to do with the label...the album still had some gems.

How exactly has Em ceased to connect with his audience? You realize a song like Underground is eerily similar to Criminal? a song his fans adore....go look at the comments for underground on youtube...seems to me that it connects very well with his audience.

Em will be an elite lyricist till he stops breathing. It's cool to have an opinion and if you don't like certain records, that's cool, he can't please everyone...but to say dude fell off lyrically...the same dude that dropped rap god and raped the bet cypher last year...nah, you're buggin.

salute

Good lyricism is clever, witty, satirical, introspective, shocking, unique, it tells a story, paints a picture, it's unforgettable, remarkable, it's stimulating.

This is one example of many, where nothing eminem is putting out right now, is even remotely touching this:

weed lacer
97 burgundy blazer
wanted for burglary, had to ditch the mercury tracer,
im on some loc shyt, cuz im fed up with this being broke shyt,
im not to joke with, bytch i don' sell crack i smoke it,
havin a coke fit, goin through withdraws daily,
shoot up on mescaline in front of my baby daughter Haley,
my brains dusted, im disgusted at all my habits,
too many aspirin tablets, empty medicine cabinets,
losin battles to wack rappers cuz im always too blunted,
walkin up in a cipher, smokin talkin about who want it?,
thug and a crook, every drug in the book, i've done it,
my nines at your brain, is that your chain? run it,
fools die from an over dosage of excessive flavor,
aggressive nature got me stickin you for your progressive pager,
spectacular, crystal meth manufacturer,
stole your mommas acura, wrecked it and sold it back to her,
boostin nike jackets
escape from psychiatrics,
told the nurse to save the bed for me, i might be back trick,
so barricade your entrance, put up some extra fences,
women beater, wanted for repeated sex offenses,
chasin dips, take em on long vacation trips,
kidnappin em and trapping em in abusive relationships,
mess up your face and lips, slit your stomach and watch your gut split,
cut you with the razor that i use to shave my nuts with
momma dont you cry
your son is too far gone
im so high i dont even know what label im on
im dusted, im feeling like an over worked plumber
im sick of this ish whats Jack Kevorkians phone number?

I think its the drugs. It throws the flow off. I dunno. It just aint Em. Everytime he gets clean he starts sounding awkward and forced. I hate to say something like that about a man. He is really good at rapping, and he can do that and be better than everybody else, but it don't sound as dope as it used to.

Last time it sounded dope was on the relapse CD... The stay wide awake joint. That shyt was amazing. On relapse he really showed us that it's the drugs. That is why its called relapse and we got the ill ass sick GENIUS shyt on it. Then on Recovery we got this forced pop rap shyt. I hate that shyt. He makes chart rap. Period. And he doesn't even like it. There is no soul in it. Its white. Its still great. cause he is dope at that shyt man. he has actually put forth the effort to master his craft.... It just sounds better on drugs.

I dont hate it. I take it back, I bumped the hell out of recovery. That was a good CD. It was pop rap done masterfully.

Relapse wasn 't that long ago, so that project alone proves Em still has it, everything else since then has been experimentation, but with mixed results.

:childplease:

You guys who say he's still as good or better lyrically are literally retarded. I dunno how you could listen to anything he put from 99 to 03 and then listen to his recent material and say he's still got it lyrically :snoop:
Agreed. I suspect anyone who is defending Em did not start listening to him post-Encore or so. I don't see how anyone who grew up listening to him before then can honestly like what he's been doing since Recovery.

Rap G-d is a wonderful example of how technical wizardry on the mic =/= dopeness. Chip Fu might be the fastest rapper that sounds dope at top speed but he is NEVER mentioned in the GOAT discussion (nor is the world record holder Twista). ODB is seen as nicer, but technically ODB was in kindergarten compared to some on the high end.

I like listening to Greg Nice more than I like listening to Em. Mr Cheeks too. These are some of the most basic styles.

So what did Em say on Rap G-d that was dope like "bust a nut inside your eye.. to show you where I come from"? Just an ill ass bar that will be remembered 20 years from now? This is rhetorical.

He raps fast and puts words together very well but he lacks soul. Real Hip Hop is soul music.
