The Firm was a dope album, it just came out at the wrong time.

"Phone Tap" should have been the first single, noone wanted a whole album that sounded like "Firm Biz" from this crew.

The album was Number 1 and went Platinum, even though expectations were huge the way people talk about it you'd think it sold double wood.

the concept was dope to be fair but the result was dissapointing and glad that shyt never resurfaced again. I loved the intro track to the firm ie affirmnative action on it was written, that gave me hope at first!

Do you know that Nas approached Lord Tariq to join in, this was way back in 96, before the A.Action track was recorded. He declined and was chasing his solo deal and other projects.

1997 was a funny year for hip hop. Big passed and Pac's death was still fresh on the brain. That whole east vs. west was still bubbling as well

The landscape was basically changing. That early 90's era was clearly over and nikkas in the game was really starting to get money in rap. I think this album was dope if it would've came out a year or two later. Phone Tap was one of Dre's best beats ever. I went back to listen to the album again with original intentions of saying how could Dr Dre fukk up an album featuring Nas and AZ, but I couldn't. This record now blesses my itunes collection as a result.

what? it was about a year or two late. mafioso rap would've died with big if it wasnt for cnn+trag. anyway, 95, 96, 97, 98 or 99 album was very forgetable.

The album was ok but could have been a whole lot better. A lack of Nas being featured on a lot of songs didnt help either. Especially since it was his group and he was the star.
