He was aight.

The idea he was some potentially all time great artist is a bit over the top though.

Feel like the most attention he ever got was always the fukkery he was involved in. The music felt secondary.

nah, he was extremely gifted, dope and versatile... As noted, he just has problems and couldn’t get to the ‘success’ fast enough. They always say the difference between genius and crazy is success....

What songs does he have that suggest he's a genius?

I said he was extremely gifted, dope and versatile. Go back in the thread as people have posted numerous gems from him. I said the term genius is often attributed with success. Charles, never got past him demons.

I said talent

blu was average and put me to sleep faster than j.cole :russell:

To each their own. I agree Charles Hamilton is a better talent overall

but must rappers would say Blu was is of the most talented/skilled lyricists

you probably think Jay Electronica and Lupe fiasco are boring as well :yeshrug:

He wasn't marketable. He was an arrogant nerd which is a bad combination.

not saying they are the same people (far from it) but based off of ur generalized comment, wouldn’t Kanye fall into the arrogant nerd category?? And I was a huge fan of ye since his early days

I dont consider Ye a nerd, just a average square cat from the hood.

he was an arrogant, nerd and a weirdo but still conscious.

only person comparable is lil b and Tyler who both had a niche/cult fan base..... mostly white internet trolls who was in on the joke.

Charles still kept it black/hip hop to an extent so maybe the “conscious backpack” hip hop base couldn’t accept him. Especially not commercially.

Plus he dissed J Dilla after he died :snoop:

people always say sad what happened but dont or didnt support :mjlol:

this dude's beats alone should have made him a star

not even mentioning if he focused his projects and lyrics and put out extremely well executive produced CDs
