You can call me a JRPG snob if you want but an actual traditional style JRPG that reviews well from Japanese developers will never win a GOTY award and at this point unless it's a multi-million seller won't even get a token nomination regardless of how good it is.

It's like the Grammys. I listen to rap and the majority of rap albums that get nominated don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning album of the year. In the last 35 years 2 hip hip artist have won album of the year. Am I a bitter rap snob for pointing that out?

Even beyond GOTY you honestly expect me to believe for RPG of the year that a game the critics game an 80 in Avowed deserves a nomination over Trails in the Sky 1st which is an 88-90?

Again, just having a high average review score isn't an automatic pass to getting nominated for anything. Context matters.

Obviously I can't speak for the panel that put the nominations together, but if I'm choosing between an original game or a remake, I'm inclined to pick the new game, since even if it reviewed slightly worse, it was more a unique experience. You might just need to get out of your feelings about this game, breh. You enjoyed it, that's good enough.

For example, I'm pretty sure Ghost of Yotei would be my personal game of the year due to how I personally connected with the main character, but I'm not really upset that it's not nominated. It not getting a specific award can't change the experience I had with the game, and that's okay.

How do you have Outer Worlds 2 up for best RPG & the game came out only two weeks ago over AC Shadows :what:

Even though the game came out a few weeks ago, it seems like review codes were sent out well in advance of that. For panelists, that was probably enough time for them to make their decision.

And I haven't played Shadows. Isn't that one supposed to be moving away from the RPG elements, or am I thinking of another game in the series where they said they're supposed to be making that switch?

They've nominated Resident Evil Remakes for GOTY and their individual gernes.

Again this event is about marketing first and furthermost. That is going to have more influence over what does and doesn't get nominated than anything.

All these games highly rated games released this year and Sony published like 2 and grabbed up 19 nominations :mjpls: but it's clear why, especially with one being from kojima.

If E33 wasn't a lock it's clear who would be winning goty again :mjlol:
