I think fundamentally as men we need a vision and purpose in our lives that drives us. Alot of modern men don't know their purpose and thus are directionless.
What is your definition finding your purpose? Is it recognizing what you're good at making it your living? Is it seeking out the career or path that will make you the most capable provider whether you're passionate about that path or not? Or maybe a process of elimination?

Its amazing to me how balanced one can feel around a good woman. You feel complete, like your purpose has been fulfilled. They really do balance us out! There's such a difference between an intelligent and educated woman from a physically attractive woman lacking intelligence or maturity. I swear being around an intelligent woman and conversing is like a tennis volley that you hope never ends. Its so perfect, so fitting. Even now with my work, the conversation I can have with a female colleague leaves me so much more fulfilled than with a woman who might be more physically attractive yet lacks substance.

In modern society, guided mostly by the media (who have their own agenda), our view of masculinity often ends up as a caricature. Its all about mindless aggression and brute force. What is never discussed when talking about masculinity is stoicism.

sto·i·cism
ˈstōəˌsizəm/
noun
  1. 1.
the endurance of pain or hardship without a display of feelings and without complaint.
synonyms: patience, forbearance, resignation, fortitude, endurance, acceptance, tolerance, phlegm
"she accepted her sufferings with remarkable stoicism"
  2. 2.
an ancient Greek school of philosophy founded at Athens by Zeno of Citium. The school taught that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge, and that the wise live in harmony with the divine Reason (also identified with Fate and Providence) that governs nature, and are indifferent to the vicissitudes of fortune and to pleasure and pain.
Stoicism is absolutely vital in becoming a successful, well rounded man. The ability to not let your emotions sway you into destructive actions is what separates men from women. Having a clear head allows you to properly assess any situation and make appropriate choices.

Stoicism has been demonized as men who "aren't in touch with their feelings" and "bottling up emotions", but I counter that its the opposite. Your emotions will always exist, but stoicism is the process of accepting reality. If its something you can change, you can develop a proper course of action, if it can't be changed there's no use worrying about it.

I implore young men to take some time out of everyday to silently reflect. "Wearing your heart on your sleeve" only makes you easier to manipulate and prone to rash decisions.

For the religious brehs, I'll close with a prayer that really helped me out during tough times, and is basically stoicism in a nutshell...

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference"

Let's be real, these nikkaz raised by single mamas are overly emotional. That's what are culture is raising.

bytches in grown man bodies.

It's kinda like what George Karl was talking about with Melo and Kenyon Martin. You saw it in A.I. too. Especially Dennis Rodman, where these dudes weren't emotionally able to handle shyt.

Now, think about Kobe, Shaq, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and dudes like that. How many times did you ever see those dudes out of control emotionally?

That's because all of them had a STRONG Black daddy. That's why those dudes never melted down in the playoffs and LeBron just stopped a few years ago.

And let's be real too, the feminists have made masculinity such a bad word and are always telling grown men to be "in touch with their emotions", that now you've got a bunch of overly emotional hoes running around too.

You're right, the entire balance is fukked up. Sad thing is you can't even call it out because these dudes are so emotional that if you hurt their feelings, they'll tune you out and be even less productive.

A colleague at work was telling me how her son's coach called him out and "embarrassed" him in front of the team, she promptly pulled him from the team. I tried to tell her that the only reason the coach even extended that much energy is because her son obviously had potential and he was trying to light a competitive fire under him. Coaches don't go hard on scrubs. She didn't talk to me for like two days. Meanwhile her son sitting at home playing Xbox.

My homie coaches AAU basketball, he was telling me you can't even yell at the kids, their mothers will just pull them and take them to another team. High school coaches aren't immune because kids don't even need to play high school ball to get looked at by scouts.

At my son's school, the parents (mothers) were complaining about their children's grades and how their low scores were affecting their gpa's. So instead of offering tutoring or after school programs, or revamping the curriculum so that the lessons could get through to the children better, they just switched to a 10 point scale, so now a damn 90 is an A, an 80 is a B, a 70 is a C, and a damn 60 is a D.

We all know why the powers that be are advocating for this soft society, and it weakens us all and makes us Dependant on the system. But if you call it out people will just get offended, call you racist, sexist, homophobic, femmphobic, or anything else to silence you

I'm a natural stoic. I embrace the philosophy.

Matter of fact, www.reddit.com/r/stoicism/ is a good place to get started with the philosophy.

The only downside to stoicism is like every other movement, it is extreme. I can't adopt all forms of it. For instance, Stoics think working out is being vain and a waste of time. :stopitslime:

I agree with your original point but everything after that is pure assumption and furthers a false narrative. In general, fathers should be in their kids lives. But Kobe and Shaq were MAAD emotional at times. And for what you say about Magic Johnson, his son is an effiminate homo. DESPITE having his father in his life.

So let's just stick with the original point and not make assumptions breh breh.

Dude, there's a difference between showing emotion and being led by your emotions like a female.

Michael Jordan showed emotion at times, but when it was time to handle business he handled it, same with Kobe, who's an all-time clutch player. You can't be an all-time great clutch player if you're a bytch assed nikka led by emotions

I've never seen Shaq on no bytch shyt. Phil Harrison would've kicked his ass, that's why he was always a stand up guy.

I don't know why you brought Magic's son into this, because his sexuality has nothing to do with how he would handle pressure situations, which is what this thread is about.

Your whole point was about being overly emotional. You tied that to not having a father figure. I merely said I agree with your point but not with your generalization. There are overly emotional nikkas with fathers and non-emotional cats without fathers.

I brought up EJ because he's a flaming emotional, homosexual man.

There was no need to roll with the "fatherless" agenda to solidify your main point.

Nah i disagree...the issue was exercise for vanity..like the bodybuilders do...not exercise for self mastery, self discipline and pushing ones own limits but not for contests to impress other people..

For example some of the eastern martial arts have an almost stoic philosophy at their core..and they prohibit using the skills for competition, especially for money or fame or for revenge or random acts of aggression

True but I personally don't see what's wrong with working out for vanity (i.e. to get a six pack) it's still accomplishing health goals.
