So if you don’t think KD is that great then what’s the fascination with being swept in the 1st round? MJ was swept in the 1st round. Jimmy vs KD is not a thing

Who said KD isn’t great? Why is KD getting SWEPT BY THE SAME TEAM THAT JIMMY MANAGED TO TAKE TO 7?

They had comparable rosters (You could argue that KD had more talent), they faced the same team, and Jimmy looked 10x better against the Celtics then KD did.

They were both the clear cut first options.

Do you think Jimmy is a better basketball player than KD? If yes then why are you so shock by KD losing, y’all just argue just to argue

Durant's reputation has always been a bit greater than his reality. Swap him and Jimmy and Miami isn't getting to a single ECF with Durant, but they been to 2 ECF (and counting) with Jimmy...
There’s ppl on this board still adamant that Butler is a Number 2, posing as a number 1. And they’re adamant that every deep run he’s had in Miami thus far is just by sheer luck and fortune. Reputation supersedes reality. Jimmy on those Warriors has two rings too, just like KD. Hell, healthy Jimmy with a healthy Heat roster isn’t facing NY in game 6 tonight. They probably sweep NY and possibly beat Boston last year. He may have 2 finals appearances and title to his name if Miami didn’t constantly have key players injured including Jimmy himself. KD has gotten the same injury breaks in his post season runs. Kawhi in 2017.

SMF and LAX to VA and NC

He's now in Y6 post-Golden State. For those who forgot, he played 9 years pre-Golden State...

He's not dead to NBA fans. I just think his reputation has reverted to the mean. The Culture has mad respect for him but he was elevated to a place he never really earned, and he's had a full career (13 non-GS seasons now) to validate he was what people said he was...

"Top 10 All-Timer"...

"Better than LeBron"...

"Better than Steph"...

"Greatest scorer ever"...

And other hyperbole. Durant is none of these above statements. But he's an All-Time great player, who is still playing outstanding ball on the last stage of his career...

I am gonna miss him when he's gone, we the same age so I've grown up on him, in a sense. But I do think people recognize him still, but when people reflect on his career, collectively we'll make the distinction on exactly who and what he was...

I don't know what to make of KD legacy

That list seems eerily good, considering that it's based solely on stats, but all four players also fit the mold of "Popular players and MVP candidates who were consistently great but not consistently top-of-the-NBA dominant and only competed for rings in a few years."

All five won MVP exactly once.

Garnett went to two Finals and won 1
Barkley went to one Finals and lost
Dr. J went to three Finals and won 1
Dirk went to two Finals and won 1
KD went to three Finals and won 2*

What’s the asterisk for on KD’s 2?

For some reason I think you are concerned that KD’s legacy is a threat to your King’s dominance. You should be worried about Steph, he’s the one that has the influence and changed the game. KD is always going to get props as a pure hooper who unfortunately followed the non competitive blueprint layed out by Lebron.

‘KD is ___ to nba fans’

I don’t ike using that kind of wording man….but metaphorically its true

I live in the same county KD is from, I’m like 5 min from his childhood house. I never even think about it. PG county is known as land of the hoopers but not ‘KD’s hometown’. Nobody brings him up as a source of pride

My nephew who DID kinda look up to KD, he was like 13 when KD went to GS. He was like ‘nooooo :damn:‘ when it was announced. He started crying lol That move really just ruined shyt. Everyone has just a natural sports DNA, sports ethics. Even as kids picking teams you just naturally balance teams out. ‘You go here, you go here’. You don’t even need to be told or see it on tv it’s instinctual. And he violated that

This is business.

You think the Pistons want things to be fair or do they want as many great players as possible?

Ok cool. Hence he’s looked at as a business man. No emotional attachment from him, no emotional attachment from fans

So nothing is lost right? Bc athletes would never care about the love and emotion they get for perfecting their craft right? :jbhmm::aicmon:

how was the climate there before he went to GS?

I though Rob's wording was harsh as well. It's not like he's dropped off statistically, he just likes to hoop and go home so the only time people really talk about him is when he's tweeting.

Are you implying KD doesn't care about his craft by going to the best situation to win?
