When I was a kid the only grown man l let hold me like that was Michael Jackson and that stopped once turned 13.HE WAS A KID..AND STILL THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE BY 2001 (SHAQ'S OWN WORDS)
Cool, that's what's up. I'm not trying to bother you. I talk shyt but I can take it just the same. Not agitated in the least. I have no problem schooling Kobe fansIt's a deflection because you say that as if it refutes the facts that Shaq was the number one option who the opposing team tailored their defense around controlling. Look, our debate here is whether or not Kobe was the sidekick. We aren't debating how good Kobe was. Your opinion of how good you think Kobe was is irrelevant to the role that he played on the team. Shaq was the man on that Lakers team regardless of how good you want to say that Kobe was.
It's not a valid rebuttal because the 2008 wcf has nothing to do with the role that Kobe played during the first 3peat. I've illustrated how Shaq was the man of that team and you haven't refuted any of that. You ignore the facts regarding the roles that Shaq and Kobe played and deflect by trying to make this about selectively chosen performances. "oh what about this series, what about all the times Kobe outplayed Shaq?" None of that refutes my argument. Popped outplayed Mike sometimes, that didn't change the dynamic of their roles on the team. Regardless of what Kobe did against the Spurs. The Lakers were built around Shaq. Shaq was the 1st option. Shaq was the main concern and focus of the opposing team.
So basically you're just overly sensitive, complaining about terminology. Maybe some people use "sidekick" disrespectfully or demeaning, but however you slice it Shaq was the main man and Kobe was the number 2. If they're people tryna hate and belittle Kobe's contributions then you're on the other side because you're trying to pretty it up in Kobe's favor to the point you're being disingenuous.
Nothing said in this thread really bothers me per say. Entire reason i made an account on this forum or any sports related site is to have discussions just like this. Seems like you're the one agitated by anything being said here, I'm honestly enjoying this.

The common saying was that the Lakers might have THE 2 best players in the league on their team from 2001-2004.
even though Duncan and KG were MVP,s those years?
How many fukking halftime shows during the money years did they often and always talk about why Kobe kept shooting instead of pounding it in to Shaq for the easiest dunks in history? Everyone was dumb founded by that shyt...it was a CONTINUOUS topic for YEARS![]()

first you meanHe stole Pau 2 Final MVP's.
Without Shaq he's putting up 35 points a game but going home in the second round every year.
Scottie as a side kick > Tobe
dumbass kobe coulda won 4 straight but chose to shoot 10-27 against the pistons in the finals..i think he shot 38% for the SERIES
that's ricky rubio #s![]()
yes but shaq still put up 27 and 11 on 63% shooting..WE LOST THAT SERIES BECAUSE MALONE WAS INJURED+SHAQ COULDNT DEFEND THE PICK-AND-ROLE...JUST ASK GARY PAYTON

yes but shaq still put up 27 and 11 on 63% shooting..
kobe was forcing the issue at 38%
even then everyone was shakin their head at bean..
even billups or someone on the oral history the other day said they knew they could get bean to shoot em out of the series
talk in caps brehs"BILLUPS OR SOME1"...I REALLY BELIEVE U.
FACT OF THE MATTER IS, IT WAS A DEFENSIVE ORIENTED SERIES..RIP HAMILTON AND TAYSHAUN PRINCE ALSO SHOT 38% AND 40%.....BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT DEFENSE WAS NOT THERE FOR THE LAKERS, SHAQ WAS HORRIBLY OUT OF SHAPE, STUBBORN, AND REFUSED COME UP ON PICK-AND-ROLLS, WHICH IS WHAT KILLED THE LAKERS. BUT THAT WONT SHOW UP IN THE STATS. STILL THE TRUTH THO, AND ANYONE WHO WATCHED THE SERIES WILL TELL U.
ON TOP OF THAT, KARL MALONE SHOT 33% FROM THE FIELD IN THAT SERIES...GARY PAYTON SHOT 32%...DEREK FISHER SHOT 30%...LMAO COMPARED TO THE REST, KOBE WAS ACTUALLY GOOD. BUT EVERYONE WAS OFF IN THAT SERIES. THE ENTIRE TEAM WAS JUST NOT CLICKING, AND IT WAS MAINLY DUE TO SHAQ'S ANTICS, WHICH ULTIMATELY GOT HIM SHIPPED OUT.

expect me to remember every single detail of all media i consume on a daily basis in this digital world , brehs
Chauncey Billups: Our game plan was very calculated. We knew we were going to play Shaq straight-up. We knew there was no way we could stop Shaq straight-up. And there was also no way we could stop Kobe straight-up. But, if we’re going to play Shaq straight-up, [the Lakers'] eyes are going to get big, which means they’re going to keep throwing it down there. We’re telling Ben the whole time, "Take fouls when you need to, but don’t get yourself into foul trouble. You need to give up a layup, cool, we’re going to get what we want on the other side." But what’s going to happen is Mr. Bryant is going to get a little discouraged with getting no touches and now the second half comes around…now he’s pressing. He’s going to start coming down and just breaking the offense. When you do that, you’re done—you’re playing right into our hands. Even if you start making those shots, you’re finished.

25 PPG 4.7 RPG 7.7 APG
SIDEKICK NUMBERS YALL!!!

bu-bu-but Shaq won 3 MVP'sKobe made the finals another THREE straight times without Shaq. Only reason they didnt win 3 straight its cuz fakkit ass Celtics had to build a super team![]()

Shaq would not guard pick and rolls his entire career bro.IF THEY WERE USIN SINGLE-COVERAGE AGAINST SHAQ AND HE ONLY PUT UP 26 PER GAME, WHAT DOES THAT TELL U? A MOTIVATED SHAQ WHO WAS STILL IN SHAPE WOULDA PUT 35+ NIGHTLY ON ANY SINGLE COVERAGE......BUT HE WAS NO LONGER THE SAME SHAQ. AND YEA, KOBE HAD TO TRY AND OVERCOMPENSATE FOR THAT, WHICH DIDNT EXACTLY WORK OUT. SO BILLUPS IS ESSENTIALLY SAYIN THEY WERE ABLE TO ENTICE KOBE TO TRY OVERCOMPENSATING FOR SHAQ'S DEFICIENCIES, WHICH I WOULD AGREE WITH.....THE FACT REMAINS THAT THE DEFENSIVE END IS WHAT DID IT.
GARY PAYTON AFTER A LOSS IN SAN ANTONIO:
"I can't stop Tony Parker. Yea, OK, that's great. Let me get you in the pick-and-roll 65 times and I bet I'll beat you too. You can put it on me. Whatever you want to do. Somebody's got to be the scapegoat. But you guys don't want to put it on on' who-it's-really-supposed-to-be, huh?"
And who might that be? "You tell me, then," Payton said, laughing. "I don't know."
Of course, it was O'Neal, who hung so far back on pick-and-rolls, Laker opponents started running them as soon as they got off the plane.
