2 Timothy 3:1-5

"1 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,
3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,
4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,
5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

Now alot of people will try to say that these type of things have always been going on, and to a certain extent they have. But as a whole, world wide things are much worse than they were in times past, partly because now we have the means and ability for it not to be the way it is when it comes to certain area's. Yet people are still starving, getting deathly sick and them some.

Matthew 24:7

7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.

that's a really easy way to hedge your bet when you're preaching messianic religion

I suppose so but, coming from a Christian perspective, if God had given us a definite date as to when the world would end, don't you think that people would just completely ignore his laws and lead sinful lives and then just ask for forgiveness right before the Day of Judgement? This way, we have an incentive to lead good lives and those who don't really have good intentions will be punished for it.

The literal Christian perspective is that the end of days is upon us, so repent now, sell your possessions, don't worry about burying your dead father or getting married (unless it will keep your heart from hardening as Paul said), and give the end of your time on earth to God.

These guys were Jews and you can't understand Jesus without understanding the idea of the Jewish messiah. His purpose is to redeem Israel and reunite the lost tribes in the kingdom of their God, not to save the world or to have everyone stick around with the bus idling while his disciples go out and hand out tickets

Its not about terrible crimes and genocides that happened through out history, its about all of those things and then some happening all at once and then some. I dont think people understand that since World War 1 there hasn't been a bloodier time on earth period. There is nothing that compares to the wars and nations against nations in the history of mankind.

I'm not here to argue, there is really no need. Some will see it some will :manny:

Its just interesting to see and think about.

nah this is myopic

one of my favorite Twain quotes, it's about the French Revolution, but is applicable to any time of strife and unrest:
"There were two 'Reigns of Terror', if we could but remember and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passions, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon a thousand persons, the other upon a hundred million; but our shudders are all for the "horrors of the... momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty and heartbreak? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief terror that we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror - that unspeakable bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves."
