Not for me, but for the fan base. Again, if you're were a fan of the original game, you'd understand. Instead y'all accept anything that sticks and refute all good talking points on why the entire plot sucks.

The game sold well because of the gameplay and graphics. Story wise it was ass.

:why:
We ARE the fanbase and we ARE fans of the first game! You’re speaking for yourself and people with unhealthy attachments to Joel. We loved the story just as much as the gameplay, graphics, and environment.

He did, which is why it exist as an emmy winning show and something people still can’t help jumping into arguments about.

i’d rather game writers continue to make bold choices rather than make things to appease people, especially in AAA gaming
You can make bold and daring choices that are still satisfying. Some examples are as follows:

Look at how the god of war series has depicted Kratos and the other gods over the course of the games. Who expected Kratos to almost become the villain by the end of the 3rd game? Did anyone really expect Odin or Thor to be how they turned out to be? Who saw the chain of events surrounding Brok and Sindri coming or the note the game would end on? Did anyone see the last conversation between Sindri and Kratos/Atreus being what it was? I know I didn’t.

Look at how Halo 2 made no mention of the arbiter or Tartarus or the prophets in its marketing but fleshed out the conflict and gave us a bunch of great characters. Look at what Halo 4 did with Cortana and consider how few people would’ve thought to do that.

Choosing that end of Spider-Man 2018 took serious balls (especially with it being our introduction to this Spider-Man), but it still stayed faithful to the themes that Spider-Man always explores.

They went the route it needed to go and that route made it a classic. There’s very few changes I’d make. It was a joy to play the 3-4 times I ran through it.

It would have been a waste to play it safe, it would be one thing if they came out in yearly or every other year installments. The story has always been brutal and messy. The sequel just kept that tradition.
There’s a lot of satisfying places that still could’ve been brutal and bittersweet. The theme of the first was about finding hope in even the most bleak settings. You could even say it’s about people lost in the darkness still looking for the light :troll:.

Tommy says in the opening he’ll take the secret about Joel wiping out the fireflies to the grave if needed. Clear foreshadowing. Abby and her friends could’ve been more interested in answers about what went down in Salt Lake City (Abby would have had no knowledge of Ellie in this scenario). They go looking for Tommy since they know he used to be a firefly and he refuses to tell them anything a shootout happens and Tommy is either captured or killed so Ellie decides to go after them after she finds a WLF patch. Joel reluctantly agrees, which leaves Ellie suspicious about things and along the way they find enough that suggests the issue is stemming from their efforts to find a cure still. At some point Ellie calls Joel out on his lie so he finally tells her while they’re out there. They would eventually find Tommy (if he’s still alive) but the escape from Seattle goes wrong somehow and only one of Joel or Tommy makes it back with Ellie. The game would end with something like the nighttime porch conversation that Ellie and Joel have except it’s in real time and not a flashback so the moral or message here would be that Ellie has to learn that her life has value on its own and it’s ok that she doesn’t save the universe.

That sounds like a story that holds some really heavy beats but stays true to the themes of the first game :manny:

That wouldn’t be nearly as memorable, and would have felt like a complete 360 from the first game. It almost seems like uncharted 4.

It would’ve been the flip side to part 1. The first was about Joel rediscovering his humanity after 20+ years and finding something to live for again while part 2 is about Ellie learning to get over her survivors guilt and building a life of her own.

It’s not ugly enough for TLOU. It’s not the ugliness of the in game combat that makes the series so memorable and loved. Any game could do that. It’s the ugliness of living that makes TLOU what it is. It’s never been about happy endings. That’s what Uncharted is for.

Two is good enough. It's at the event horizon where no story can give it a proper send off. Ellie and Abby both have to deal with the fact their actions caused people to die, and they are still in the same world they started off with- but with less friends and family.

Who cares about a cure, the world of TLOU is bleak... and that makes it great.

If they did make a third one, you would need to have to move away from all the characters you know and tell a new story; parallel or years ahead.

Some of the best stories are ones that leave no further stories of the people you once knew, lost to time, just like a decaying building.

Any nikka saying a 3 won’t be made is either dumb for real or an idiot that like 2 and it’s perfect ending:pachaha:
Even with some people being frustrated with the tv show now
Ain’t no way Sony nor dikkheadman not making a 3
They truly have a moment to piss people off further or to feed the sycophants they have in the palm of their hands:pachaha:
Mark my words GTA6 and TLOU3 will be launch titles for PS6

If it had to be made: Let it take place at least 4 years after TLOU2. No Abby and Lev. Their stories felt complete. Play as an older Ellie and another character she has to look over. No cure subplot. Bittersweet ending for Ellie's story.

Are they getting into cliche territory then?
:patrice:
Honestly I'm not even that intereted in that part of the thing in this game because this is one of the most easier to manage zombie threat ever :mjlol:

Like the gov or the militias could just use speakers to attract most of them to one spot and them bomb and molotov the shyt out of them, not to mention some just die on their own.

So for me its like a cure for what? The people getting infected are the ones leaving the FEMA or militia run walled cities.
