Funny cuz I didn't even know the guy behind Lost was behind this show...but I'm not fukkin with it mainly becuz of Lost. Even tho it looks interesting

I'm just can't commit to any long drawn out mysteries and cliffhangers. I know it makes me an "ignorant" viewer but if I'm gonna commit all that time over several weeks I need a payoff...

I'll give it a shot.. but I don't trust this Lindelof cat at all after that final season of Lost and the steaming sh*t pile that was Prometheus :snoop:

Reading this Grantland review of The Leftovers explains the Lost phenomeon perfectly

Basically, for 5 1/2 years it was arguably the most enjoyable TV ever (if you were around the Lost online forums especially.....people who go back and view it on DVD just won't understand). shyt seemed like a complex masterwork and we were continuously promised a satisfying explanation for the show mythology

Instead, in the last half of season 6 it became clear that shyt just wasn't coming together. We still all held our breath that the series finale would find a way to tie up all the loose ends. Instead, we got a heartfelt and touching finale that was satisfying for the characters, but absolute god awful trash for the mythology.

Basically, 6 years of mystery just thrown in the bushes. Major plot points from previous season completely ignored or given half-ass explanations for. It was blatant that the writers had made the whole show up as they went along with no intent on bringing most of it to a good conclusion.

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse then tried to pull the okie-doke on us and say "the show was all about the characters".....BULLshyt, the island was the star of the show.

fukk, I don't know why I just went on this rant but got damn nothing gets my anger flowing like Lost. I am willing to accept that The Leftovers truly is about the characters and not the mystery disappearance, but I still expect the mystery to be answered eventually otherwise Lindelof will have his 3rd strike (Lost, Prometheus).
i remember being legit heated when that jacob episode aired. dude combined light and water and made a teleport or some shyt. my mind was blown at how bad i was just okie doked for 6 years. if a show is supposed to be all about the characters, then why in the hell are you introducing and building upon supernatural concepts, then just ignoring them when you hit the conclusion portion of the series? the supernatural went on for years. entire season arcs were built around it. then its supposed to be about the characters and their journey at the end. fukk outta here. this looks like more of the same. its a pass for me, although it does look interesting. previous track record puts it into the bushes until further notice

i'm going in with very low expectations. I thought it was some type of mystery show, but from what i've read it's not at all. It's more about exploring feelings and shyt like that. The reviews i've seen haven't been that great and have said it's pretty slow paced.

My issue with whole thing was, Season 6 definitely had ABC executive influence. It was like they were controlling the script, not the writers. Them ABC nikkas were like, we need to milk this cash cow dry. So have more filler episodes and create a nice nonthreatening ending. That is why I have to respect the cac that wrote/produced/directed Breaking Bad finale season. He was like fukk you :pacspit:AMC I am not extending this show, just because you are giving me a pile of money. Even the Mad Men producer/writer is the same way, he was like don't interfere with the creative process. I really think because of LOST, this change in tv has occurred. It was some sort of blow back. I don't think there ever will be a show like LOST, because of all the people who were like :beli:at the end. There were nikkas who were so invested, they would take screen caps and all this shyt.

I will say those plane crash sequences were amazing though. That was some ground breaking tv.
