THE LEGO MOVIE: Arguably one of the deepest socially conscious animated film in recent history.

I think it's to fly past any controversy between critics and/or public. Doing a live action film of this nature would of caused an uproar of controversy from all fronts.

:ohhh:

The trailers looked pretty funny but I didn't realize this movie was dropping that type of knowledge, might have to check out.

Just came back from the movie, had me dying. The joke-a-minute pacing was perfect, so many great jokes. Favorite though had to be Morgan Freeman:

"You cannot outsmart me for I can see everything!"
*immediately gets hit in the face by a laser*
"AAAAARGH MY EYES!"

:dead:

*after he returns as a ghost*
"You didn't let me finish, because I died."

The entire theme of the film is individualism vs. conformity. Also free thought vs. group think.

this movie was brilliant, hilarious...and trippy. if you're a stoner, i definitely recommend smoking a bit before this one.

The first 20 minutes are ridiculous! The way President Business named the nail polish remover...one of the best jokes of the movie for me. :mjlol:

Check the silent film, "Metropolis". It heavily relays to that movie. Also, there's a lot of 1984 and A Brave New World themes in it too. There's also conflicting analogies of being an independent thinker & individualism vs. constructive teamwork. It most definitely flashes a mirror of our own society and it's blissful ignorance towards a more fascist government that we live in. Too consume and complacent in our own bubble where we're programmed to listen to the repetitive pop song, the cheesy reality show, go about our everyday lives while cameras are watching us at all times. Dismissive to whutever our government is really doing behind the scenes.
