We were joking about it last week but the ratings this week were apparently terrible. TK hasn't booked much since the end of 'ALL IN'

Swerve out, Ospreay out, nothing really for Toni or Mercedes, Omega floundering around, Hangman has a "story" but they haven't announced who is going to fight him.

Tony Khan been coasting and now the ratings are showing it

The ECW residency shows are booked last minute and with AEW the viewing audience seems to not like that. I think the all star tag was the only thing promoted since last week. The upcoming Collision has had the most booked matches days out. But I’ll refer to this:

Football season is coming up. Expect to read bytching and whining posts; some on how “bad” the product is or AEW “dying.” :skip:

I liked it fine for a week but a second week, nah not really. But aside from the residency (and I get it he wanted to go there) I still feel like there's a lot of coasting going on with Hangman, Mercedes, Omega, Toni, etc.

The only story that's been going on is Darby/Mox and I guess now you can add FTR/C+C

Omega is out; it’s been reported he’s dealing with pain, so no idea why you’d think he’d be a key player.

We’re not even 2 weeks out of FD and the seeds have been planted for Hangman/Kyle and Toni/Thekla. And Mone/Riho was just setup. What are you even talking about? :dahell:

You’re trying to use long term angles for an argument involving wrestlers who have been in angles/storylines over the last several months, too. Makes no sense.

Ratings are down for every wrestling shows right now, Dynamite, NXT, Smackdown, Collision.
I think it mostly outside factors and not what's going on on screen.

And I've said it numerous times before, TV ratings in 2025 are really meaningless, cable is dying and RAW is on Netflix, we don't get live us numbers for it but only 7 days international ones, so impossible to know how many people are actually watching it live in the US.
Dynamite and Collision are on HBO Max and we don't know how many people watch it there.

We're trying to analyze something when we don't have all the data necessary, so It's really pointless and fans should really stop giving a fukk about it.

The only thing that matters is to see if the TV deal is gonna get renewed or not and we won't know that before the end of 2027 cause they signed a three-year deal with another optional year that started in January.

I get ratings week to week don't mean much but my point was more that I feel like TK been coasting. @MenacingMonk you brought up Mercedes/Riho, they only set that up last night and it was out of nowhere. Toni/Thekla been on opposing sides but nothing confirmed and Thekla been brawling more with Hayter in the back than anyone else. I figured it'd be Thekla and Hayter.

I'm not expecting 'ALL IN' level of storytelling but for the past few weeks it's been light.

Also, Omega himself said he was gonna wrestle regardless so why would I think he'd be taking time off. He made the tweet himself he was gonna push through

They literally did an angle last night where they put Omega on the shelf. And his tweet was in relation to this week’s match. :dead:

If we were 1 week out from All Out and these angles were setup while they weren’t doing anything to build it up weeks before, that would be coasting.

I don’t get why you’re trying to use Riho/Mone made out of nowhere as an argument because now they’re going to build it up officially. It has nothing to do with coasting either because Mone was finishing up her FD angle with WINDZA and now moving into a storyline with Riho.

Like I said, it’s only been a week and a half after FD and things have been setup for matches, whether official or not. That’s not coasting.

this is usually where TK coasts right after All In or All Out leading into Football season I mean it makes sense with the Jaguars ownership .. and then it picks back up around the start of the CC

if you remember last year the Death Riders storyline started around this time I'm guessing TK gave Mox the greenlight cause he was busy with the Jaguars :lolbron:

but right now they really dont have a big storyline at the moment and it hurts even though the matches still fire :manny:

To be honest, I think booking Riho vs. Mercedes is sort of coasting in itself. I get Riho was fairly popular at one point but the women's division has a lot of people ready to challenge both Toni and Mercedes.

I expect them to cook in the ring so I ain't saying anything about the match quality

one thing that stands out its September 4 and the PPV is September 20 but Hangman still doesnt have a feud leading up to it (neither does the women champ Toni Storm) after last night I guess it could be Kyle Fletcher.. match would be fire but feels a little rushed :manny:

One of the most popular AEW originals, who is returning from injury and making a big challenge against Mone, vs one of the most popular globally is coasting? On top of that, Riho likely losing but other women should be fed to Mone? My god. This is why arguing wrestling sucks ass nowadays. :dead:

Kyle/Hangman doesn’t feel rushed. It’s a decent way to push Kyle into the main event scene without actually pushing him as the guy. He gets his feet wet in a big match, humbles the DCF when he loses, and can likely be used in future storylines with Hangman.
