Prince’s sales dropped significantly after purple rain. More than his contemporaries. Maybe that’s why

Not sure who said that. Prince had so many hits that he use to perform completely different songs during consecutive tour dates (instead of the same songs like most artists do) just to cover his big catalog of music.

Nobody believes this lol. Around The World In A Day is a great album. Parade is mixed to me but has multiple classic songs. And then he dropped Sign O The Times, his best album and the greatest double album ever.

His early 90s output is very good too.

Around The World In A Day went double platinum within a couple months, and it had two huge singles including Raspberry Beret. It wasn’t Purple Rain but to say it flopped is simply not true.

Flip side, Sign O The Times didn’t sell as well as that album or the proceeding ones, despite it being a classic album.
