I'm doomed then.
No you're not. There's people who will accept you (anyone) for who you are. But there's more people around you who won't. That's why I said before it's not healthy to be TOO social and have too many friends and be around too many people (giving them access to you), because all don't have your best interest.

Ever since I grew the beard, the comments I've gotten regarding my "maturity".

Tbh it was literally 6 black women I know personally (4-5 in a group that I know even) who said I need to grow one because I'm looking to baby faced. :heh: With that said, I'm glad I did :manny:.

There one one girl that I fukked who was acting brand new ragging on how she could never date a light skinned black man :dead: so I know that just like nikkas are, women can be full of shyt too.

Never thought of it like that. I think I'm not super social lately and felt like I have to have this large circle in college to thrive in life.

ouch, shade much?
It's true. Wasn't shade.
Yall be dimes. But while you try to counter anti blackness/white supremacist standards of beauty with pro dark skinned beauty (unconventional beauty), a lot of times the girls contour their noses smaller/slimmer, wear makeup, add in hair, photoshop pics, wear contacts, only show their bodies/skin (and heavily oiled in an objectification gaze) basically still changing how they look normally to be appealing ( to conventional beauty standards).

We usually see a certain type of dark skinned chick getting shine. Rarely are we seeing a Viola Davis or Gabourey Sidibe.

I remember this old Essence interview with Tyra Banks and Kenya Moore (who are friends) and Tyra said how the industry assumed she had long hair because she was lighter while they always wrote off Kenya Moore's hair as a weave, when the truth was the opposite. It was due to colorism and people not believing that a dark skinned woman can have long hair. Kenya Moore is a prime example of overcompensation (and it could be due to her childhood and lack of a relationship with her parents, particularly her mother & being dark skinned as she admitted). She entered pageants, she was known as a sex symbol, has a 6 pack, big breasts, fat ass, fit body, successful. But she also can not have children. She looks like a Barbie on the outside. But she is dealing with a lot of trauma.

Body image and self esteem is a motherfukker.
It is. But all that shyt is internal. I remember 3 years ago when I didn't love myself or even think I was remotely worth shyt but to keep this from being a long story. I reflected and thought about myself and came to terms with the flaws I had and embraced them to where I could finally say I love myself Shoutout to Kendrick Lamar
