Thematically
Alien is a gendered Marxist critique of late-stage
capitalism that forewarns of the dangers of corporatocracy
as the natural evolution of capitalism. The titular alien,
being more than a Lovecraftian entity, is a haunting symbol of
the dangers that lie ahead for late-stage capitalist societies.
The cast represents a corporation's interests to promote and manage diversity in the
workplace while the cast also function as the intersectional expectations workers have in
present late-capitalist systems for diversity. The alien represents the negation of that hope.
Ripley is the feminist heroine that represents the white
woman's survival in a corporatocratic system. She represents
the white woman's ability to adapt to the dangers of
corporatocracy long enough to save herself. All the men
die, the male android dies. The white woman is survives in stasis.
