Maaan....I remember this came out on my birthday. I was in Job Corps in a small fukkin town tryin ta get my GED and working a side job at a slaughterhouse. My roomates at Job Corps were slangin meth and weed out the room, I was smuggling in alcohol to sell, got caught up bein a wannabe Latin King, had 2 girlfriends that didn't know about each other..

This whole album reminds me of all this. You know them albums that take you back to a transition time in your life? When it came out I had just come out of a situation where I had got kicked out my parent's house, lived with a family that had no running water and heated the house with a fan in the oven. Going to Job Corps was like 'What's next?'. It was either that or the Marine Corps. shyt was poppin off in Iraq. People I came up with her gettin shipped off there, others were gettin busted for slangin crank.

Amazing that Nas wasn't responsible for the tracklist. An A&R at Columbia handpicked each song. This album is up there with every classic you can think of. It's crazy that these are throwaway tracks of Nas going through a litany of topics on sick beats.

I don't drink, but I remember getting intoxicated by Drunk By Myself for the longest. So beautifully morbid.

This album is like fine wine, it keeps getting better overtime. I can't even pick the best song, because it changes with every listen.

Listening to this when the air is crisp is godlike.
