I agree in the sense that hard work is not enough to excel at any particular skill that is physical.

Here's an example of skill vs talent.
Jimmy Hendrix is a very talented guitar player. Plenty of people can play the songs he created now. Do they have the same talent he had? No way , but by repetition they became skilled enough to play his songs.

Or the kid in school who is naturally talented at math. With repetition you can become as skilled as that kid but you will never be as talented as him. Talent is something that comes naturally, skill is acquired.

You made a solid argument but let's agree to disagree.

A lot of that stuff can be considered part of talent though, depending on how you want to define it.
:stopitslime:

Please go on and explain how hard work and luck with injuries are part of talent. genetics and iq maybe, but those other two have absolutely nothing to do with talent. one is about attitude and the other is something beyond's ones control.

Of the ones I've seen play

SG = Jordan, Kobe, McGrady
PF = Duncan
C = Olajuwon

PG and SF for me are difficult because there are so many options.

ALSO, let me hear you guys define talent vs skill in your own words.

Not talking atheletism just skill.. and yes skill wise Ray was a better shooter than MJ, better ball handler too

Ray Allen was not a better Ball handler than Jordan and Kobe. That's not even a knock on Ray Allen, btw. The ONLY thing Allen did better than Jordan and Kobe was shoot 3's.

Kobe and Jordan were better all around scorers, better passers, better rebounders, they both had better footwork, the rare occasions they did it they were even more effective off ball than Allen was.
