CBS had the finals late on tape delay! As a kid, it was a nightmare (at least school was out by that time).
NBA on NBC changed everything.
you're 40+?

not only that, but the Finals stopped being tape delayed in 1982, and that was only for 4 2 seasons. :ld:

:yeshrug: pretty much if my team is elite and everybody else is average or not dethroning us I could give a fukk about the quality of the league.

This is true.

Being a Lakers fan in the early 2000s was like :blessed: and then to double back at the end of the decade again was :ohlawd:

This is why I dont have a problem with Heat stans gloating. Hell, if you're team is dominate as fukk, why not enjoy it?:manny:

I don't know why people want athletes and fan to be humble. When you see certain teams going through playoff/championship droughts. shyt...if my team is doing good you gotta enjoy ever last second of it. :ehh:

always funny every sunday was boston vs atlanta or boston vs philadelphia followed by the lakers vs rockets or lakers vs mavericks and the league couldn't wait to broadcast the lakers/celtics games

Then it started to change when the pistons got good and jordan started to come in his own

That's when NBC got their claws on the NBA and Stern had say over how the game was marketed. He didn't have that much say when it was on CBS because CBS sports marched to their own drum. The NBA used to have "NBA Sports" umbrella that had all their team sports under that umbrella until they got the NBA and Stern separated that shyt from NBC sports.

Exactly.

I tell my cousin that all the time. Dude been a Heat fan since the days Rony Seikaly and Glen Rice and Steve Smith at the point:heh:

However, he doesnt like LeBron James since an incident that happened at a club (The Boot) when both him and LeBron were in HS, so he constantly says stupid shyt like "I wish LeBron would leave":what:

I'm like, "my nikka, dont forget the Heat were in purgatory before LeBron joined your squad, and since then, nothing but NBA Finals appearances. You better enjoy having him on your team and consistently winning games/rings, because when that day comes and yall have to rebuild, you gonna MISS these times when yall ran the NBA"

90s belonged to the Bulls stans (6 NBA Finals Appearances in 10 years), 2000s belonged to the Lakers stans (6 NBA Finals Appearances in 10 years), and the 2010s belong to the Heat stans so far (3 straight NBA Finals Appearances and only 4 years into the decade):wow:

It's nothing better than watching your team win all the time and look at everyone else's team like :youngsabo:

It was the lakers and celtics in the damn finals for like 10 years straight!:why:

Those other teams had no chance :russ:.

True, not old enough to remember but I asked my pops about it all the time.

He told me, outside of the Rockets, there wasn't much of a challenge in the west for the Lakers, but the East, you had the Celtics, Sixers, Bucks, Pistons and young up in coming teams like The Hawks, Cavs and Bulls.

Nah, mid-30s... My first clear NBA finals memory is the 1987 series.
My dad bought me Magic's jersey (he knew what was up). For black folks, the Celtics were the enemy... even in Brooklyn
