:stopitslime:

Well it's pretty fukking simple honestly.

Got 10 yards, get a first down. What's so hard?

Seems like enough people caught on as it is by far and wide the most popular sport in the USA

I guess I'm the only one that has allowed the over glorification and league mandated protection of white pocket passers to damper my interest in the game...

A lot of those games last year were straight up flag football status.. The overall quality of play was horrible imo..

At this point the NFL is behind college football, pro and college hoops as far as interest my house..

But NFL will have the complete allegience of the American public because of the Fantasy leagues and gambling aspect at this point.. So even if the quality isn't there it's still gonna do Thriller numbers...

I think you have valid points, I just love how it's the "white pocket QB" not the franchise priced athletes.

Nonetheless, it has made me and many others frustrated with it, but it hasn't dampened any interest. It's still football and those are still the 49ers every sunday.

Do you have a fave team that you followed all your life?

Only minor surprise on there is Kentucky vs. Kansas scoring higher ratings than the NBA Finals game 5.

Just goes to show you how bad the NBA product is.

Why are you surprised?

1 game win or go home playoffs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>7 games series

Now had the finals went 7 games I'm pretty sure game 7 would've cracked the top 3

Jerome Harrison, Vick, Vince Young and others a lot closer to the situation than me and you have made statements that make you think it might be an issue..

I never really had a favorite NFL team.. Used to root hard for the Dolphins during the Marino years but was always more into college...

That's a major reason it's so popular.

16 game season and they only play once a week. Every game is important and each one feels like an event and they're played on a day where most people have the day off, so everyone can watch (during the day too, not at night like everything else).

There's a week of hype leading up to every game. No other sport has that. You're underestimating the effect that has on people.

If the NFL had three/four games a week like the NBA, it'd be totally different.

Yeah, but it's not physically logical or possible.

But I agree, the NFL does gain a lot of popularity due to it's schedule, but the game just fits American viewers very well too. It's not an overabundance of scoring to where points feeling meaningless until there's 4 mins left (NBA) it's not a stagnation game where points come few and far between and you can win a game scoring once (NHL) and it's speed keeps the fans intrigued and the tempo is smooth unlike the slow plodding nature of MLB.

I always do say though every league should cut their games dramatically. Owners would never do it though

NBA 30 game season
NHL 30 game season
MLB 50 game season

I get where you're coming from but there has been statistical breakdowns where it shows Vick gets more roughing calls than many white QBs. Alex Smith got like 1 roughing call all year, he's a white pocket passer.

I think that's why you're losing interest, you're not a die hard fan of a team, it's easy to lose interest when you're just a fan of the game. The die-hard alliegance keeps fans coming back, not the casual enjoyment.

That's like me with the NBA, I loved the NBA in the early 90`s and the Bulls were my squad die hard, but it wasn't really die hard cause they always won. When Jordan left I left the sport. I still enjoyed it here and there and had spikes where I was into it more (AI's run with Philly) and more recently (LeBron's run with Cleveland) and now (Anti-LeBron era). But I lost interest in everything but playoffs since Jordan left.

Yeah but do you just watch your team or do you watch anything NFL related?

The Pro Bowl and the Draft do huge numbers so it has to be bigger than just rooting for your squad..

Anyway I will still watch every week just like everyone else.. I just have dialed back on all the off-season obsession that I used to have...Like playing Madden, checking the web sites, doing fantasy and watching NFL Network 24/7...I guess I just got burned out on the hype..Especially the over importance of that one position (QB) when I know it's not happening organically..When Brees, Brady, Rivers and Rodgers all get without sniffing distance of records that have been around almost 30 years in the same 16 game calender season, it seems fishy...Tight Ends are putting up Randy Moss numbers and the fullback and in some cases, even the running back position is becoming devalued...

Sort of like the homerun booms in MLB in the late 90's or when boxing jumped the shark...

That can be done with any sport, why do when you foul a guy he gets to shoot a free throw sometimes and sometimes he doesn't.

Why is that sometimes they shoot it with no one surrounding them?

Most the times if people are watching a game and they`re a newcomer usually there's someone in the room they can bounce questions off.

Simple fact is the NFL destroys the NBA in every single way. That's a fact, regular season games trump finals games.

I have NFL Sunday ticket, have had it for most of my life, I watch football sun up to sun down on Sundays.

I watch every football related thing possible really.

What i`m saying is if you were a die-hard fan of a certain team, you probably wouldn't burn out like that. Since you kinda don't have an alliegence you don't have the passion for it to keep so up to date with it.

Nothing wrong with that though
