How do you explain regular season games beating out NBA title games though?
AGAIN
16 games vs 82 games
aside from the fact that the NFL has always been more popular..but you have to look at these things from a non biased perspective.

You got regional games, not even Sunday night games outdrawing NBA finals closeout games.
The NFL ratings will only go up. The live attendance on the other hand...
its once a week on sunday thats the beauty of NFL so the week buildsup to each game.
Nah, I know what you're saying. But game 5 of the NBA series was as final as it gets, and it still did less than a regular season matchup for the NFL.
But I get ya, you're saying the NFL gets those ratings because each game means more even the regular season ones.
I just think game 5 of the NBA finals does kinda low ratings. I expected it to be a bit higher on this list, especially higher than Texans/Bengals wild card game
Football is just way bigger than Basketball..its very hard to compete with the NFL and college football. I expected higher ratings too to be honest..that shiit was a major disappointment..Two biggest "stars" in the NBA and we still aint cracked that 20 million..Football is just way bigger than Basketball..its very hard to compete with the NFL and college football.
NBA playoffs have a wider audience worldwide though..so take that in consideration also.

Oh of course, but this study isn't about the world and I can give a fukk about what they're watching in Spain and China, so I really don't need to take that into consideration.
I think we all know the NFL is a monolith in the states only, but honestly that's all that really matter if you live here. Especially on a board filled with Americans in a thread posting American viewership numbers. Lets keep it relative
So lets say youre David Stern..what does the NBA have to do to reach those nfl numbers..Everybody in America plays basketball but only a handful are watching it?
Dont make no fukkin sense to me.
Why any surprised.
It is by a ridiculous amount the most popular and truly BEST sport in America.
NBA is a joke compared to it, MLB isn't even mentioned in the same breath.
You have the EXACT same feelings about the NFL as I have. I still watch the NFL every week, still follow my Rams, but the overall over saturation of the NFL has really drained my enthusiasm for the game. I enjoy following college football more now than the NFL which never used to be the case. Things like having an NFL Live episode on ESPN everyday in the middle of June and July just fukking kills me. I want to miss the NFL to regenerate my interest when the season starts back up. But the problem is, once the season starts, I won't stop hearing about the NFL every minute on ESPN or other sports stations until February.I guess I'm the only one that has allowed the over glorification and league mandated protection of white pocket passers to damper my interest in the game...
A lot of those games last year were straight up flag football status.. The overall quality of play was horrible imo..
At this point the NFL is behind college football, pro and college hoops as far as interest my house..
But NFL will have the complete allegience of the American public because of the Fantasy leagues and gambling aspect at this point.. So even if the quality isn't there it's still gonna do Thriller numbers...
NFL is my favorite as well, but da NBA has da more popular players
so u cant call them a joke
But my feelings are still the same about it's popularity, the glory position in the NFL is the QB. And as long as you have Brees, Manning (both), Brady, etc. as the face of these teams, they will gain the interest of the bulk of white america (the majority), and therefore, they will have high ratings.
