By 2004 Ali could write that Elijah Muhammad, who had taught him to see white Americans as blue-eyed devils , had accomplished much in terms of black racial pride but that “Malcolm was the first to discover the truth, that colour doesn’t make a man a devil. It is the heart, soul and mind that define a person.”
“Malcolm X was a great thinker and an even greater friend,” wrote Ali. “I might never have become a Muslim if it hadn’t been for Malcolm. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would never have turned my back on him.”
I stated that people were not changing their ways to help Malcolm and that even Ali wasn't going to, even though Malcolm brought him in. But playing chess, Elijah bestowed upon him a new name. Elijah definitely held the fort down and had men ready to die for him. So he dealt with someone that was lifting his skirt in front of his followers to the grave. Even though the women were filing the case years prior in 62 which continued in 64.
But this brings me back to my original point, black leaders have to be spotless in their image. If Elijah wasn't playing dirty, sneaking around, Malcolm wouldn't have that piece on him. Elijah subscribed to history's key figures in the death of Malcolm.
Their championing of Malcolm's death after he was buried is most disturbing. Ready to smear Malcolm from speech to speech while children are growing up without their father. A wife without her husband.
Not to mention they weren't pulling up on the white boys like that.
-------
Post Mecca Malcolm is exactly what type of time Fred Hampton was on. The words can be clear as day to me or you but unless someone is mature enough and accepting of new ideas that combat their own they can't change. For that I don't fault Ali, not when he was still wet behind the ears in his membership.
The men who killed Malcolm knew the family. Attallah spoke on this.
Of course the men who killed Malcolm knew him. The men who killed Malcolm were people who the government put around him.
There are countless files, records of the FBI's infiltration of black organizations of that era, especially the Nation. If the murder of Malcolm had been ordered by ANY leadership in the Nation of Islam, especially if it had been directed by Elijah Muhammad, the FBI would have stormed in and put cuffs on everybody.
Championing Malcolm's death? It wasn't a champion, moreso of a "oh well, who cares? He got took out by the very ppl he surrounded himself with. He was the one advocating for everybody to pick up guns. And his own folks ran up on him and did him in with guns."
The attitude of that time was that, Malcolm was a traitor (which he was). I don't see you calling anyone else out for what they say about their traitors.
Malcolm started trash talking the Nation of Islam, so they talked about him too. I guess you wanted him to be able to say whatever he wanted, but you wanted the Nation's hands to be tied behind their backs where they couldn't respond.
As far as Elijah Muhammad giving Muhammad Ali a new name and that was him "playing chess", it shows your ignorance of the Nation of Islam. He gave many people in the Nation of Islam a new name, not just Muhammad Ali.
As far as people being loyal and committed to him, that's how the Nation made progress. Elijah Muhammad was the Nation of Islam's leader, their commander-in-chief. Yes, they were loyal to him.
And guess what? Going by your own words, Elijah Muhammad held the fort down and had all those men who were loyal to him.
So when Elijah Muhammad told his followers to leave Malcolm alone, then by your own words, those men were loyal to him and obeyed what he told them to do.
He told them don't touch Malcolm. And they didn't.
